Bungie has revealed ‘Seekers, Not Saints’, a new emblem that is exclusively meant for Destiny 2 players and community’s response is a combination of thrill and irritation. The giveaway emblem will be for those gamers who link their Bungie and Twitch accounts and will at least view the stream for 15 minutes on Tuesday, November 25th. Furthermore, the stream will showcase the Destiny 2: Renegades launch trailer, a new ViDoc, and an extensive presentation of the new Lawless Frontier activity—all of which sound very appealing.
The tweets that the community posted in response to the announcement are clear indicators. The responses resemble a mini version of the whole situation around Destiny 2. The super-hyped ones, for example, Velacour, said simply, ‘we will be there no matter what.’ On the other hand, there are disgruntled players. One user, baja627, remarked, ‘This shit is no longer being played by anyone,’ and well, he just put it out there straight with no chaser.
On top of that, the technical problems are also there. A good number of gamers are unhappy that they have not yet received the drops promised to them for watching the last Twitch stream. A user by the name of jtorr1210 was heard saying, ‘I have my twitch account linked and still, none of the emblems that I was supposed to get have shown up in my post master.’ This kind of thing seems to happen a lot. Another player, goku1144, stated, ‘Still not even close to receiving the last reward for the streamers’ watching.’ Completing the required action but not getting the game’s reward can be so annoying!
It was actually nice to see some players helping others technically by adding comments. When user Bastion0418 had the problem, a couple of helpful Guardians were there for him. Lucifer_Doggo said, ‘Log in to your Bungie account and refresh your rewards.’ An even more detailed instruction was given by another user, arcadekel, who said, ‘Go to Bungie dot net. Log in, then go to partner rewards and click refresh.’ It is heartwarming to see the community uniting in times of despair.
Moreover, there was a debate taking place on the design of the emblem. Sharing his opinion on the matter, Lucifer_Doggo referred to the signs as ‘ugly ass’ and asked, ‘Why do they have the whole game, they are disgusting.’ On the other hand, another user pointed out the creativity aspect, arguing that the design was too random and not fitting the game. Conversely, there are players like Ibetonme who are very much pleased that Bungie is engaging, saying ‘It’s just wonderful to see you guys trying to bring Destiny back to its original concept!’
At the same time, the practical questions popped up. User xxCheckmatexx inquired in a most naive way, ‘Would be cool if you posted the time of the stream?’ which was quite a valid point. The official Destiny account even replied in a tweet, stating the stream starts at 10 AM PT. One mystery has been solved.
And there were… bigger demands. One of the players, oAIberto, unambiguously commanded ‘Give us Destiny 3.’ Another, DanWoods1717, vented his frustration through a bugged mission boss that had an overshield, which made it impossible to complete the event and get a ‘cool helmet,’ and then he capped his rant by saying, ‘JUST SELL IT THE FUCK.’ Their devotion is truly real, for better or worse.
ShotYourEyeOut has reported yet another bug, saying, ‘I finished heliostat 2 more times and still not getting the score registered. This is ridiculous. Fix your game please.’ It seems that the player complaints during the conflicts between relationships with the player base are not triggered by the announcement of a simple free emblem but rather that it has fed the existing grievances among players.
Peculiarly enough, there was a momentary and strange diversion involving Star Wars. The user named blanketaccount made a comment that prompted Lucifer-Doggo to ponder, ‘Star wars in destiny= potentially the worst shit ever or the greatest moment in gaming history… I’m still not convinced either way.’ So that was one incident that happened.
Account linking problems were one more major source of annoyance. Quite a number of users, including kart_monkey and SparkyVEVO, stated that their Bungie accounts are permanently linked with old, deleted Twitch accounts, which means they cannot claim the rewards. This is a frustrating system-imposed limitation that Bungie does not seem to have a clear fix for it.
In the midst of the unending complaints, TheSaltyKing47, who was one of the voices among the complainers, was sounding like, well, salt, but also a kind of a reality check. Responding to the situation, many players are also discussing the game on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
