Bungie has dropped a new Fireteam ops activity in Destiny 2 termed Reclaim. The player response is something never witnessed before. Delay this, Guardians. The mode has them fighting the Conductor’s forces and taking Golden Age artifacts. However, almost instantaneously after the announcement tweet, a mountain of responses poured in, definitely encompassing a whole gamut of feelings within this community about this update-range being on the unfavorable side.
Reclaim, therefore, what exactly is it? Basically, Reclaim is the new combat-heavy activity where one struggles in rage-like fury to acquire Golden Age relics. Cool in a nutshell, right? However, players are returning with hardy complaints about loot drops, dull gameplay, and genuinely annoying technical bugs. One very direct reviewer, Brathole, wrote, “The Conductor can have them. We were defeated by a mind numbingly boring, loot stingy, game mode. GG, Conductor.” Ouch.
And that’s not just Brathole. So many more thousand voices that keep stressing the grind for rewards, with a user called MesaIsBaesa chipping in, “I have yet to get a single one and that’s across last event and IB, which is all I’ve been doing.” The major theme here is the ambiance of loot scarcity; meanwhile, B. Fox just outright refuses to participate until Bungie fixes this so-called “stingy crappy system with rewards drops.” They even attached a gif of somebody asleep-that pretty much sums up the vibe.
Beyond that loot gripe, with the technical issues, right on down to Barbed Bitterness. Ṣ̌ĥɛłŋůŧť threw down against the error codes, “Someone needs to combat the error codes your servers keep throwing at us… good lord.” Next, Dts_Nico shared their own frustration, stating they spent an entire hour on a full Contest of Elders run before they got rewarded with broken scoring and awful perks. “Like wtf,” they said-and honestly, right there with them.
Another voice even described the whole thing as feeling recycled. Jaybone joked, “You meant to say, ‘The updated Overthrow activity…'” suggesting that Reclaim isn’t really new–it’s just a reskin of something players have done to death. Kiri was even more straight: “No, I will not play Overthrow 2.” And Zambles followed with a Captain America meme, “No, I don’t think I will.” Burnout, baby, burnout.
This also serves as a welcome chance to air some broader frustrations with Destiny 2’s path. Johann Llanos suggested, “All you guys need to do is remove the portal and make us explore the solar system like it was supposed to.” Whereas Mark just went straight, “Nobody cares about the Conductor,” which – yikes. Maybe the Conductor really needs some PR help.
In with complaints from the PvP crowd comes speedracer_1337 demanding dedicated servers due to lag and rubberbanding from Iron Banner, and then lessening the scout rifle because meta is messy, of course. On a more specific note, James asked, “glaive melee hits should require ammo in pvp.” Balance will forever be an issue on Crucible.
In contrast, a few think hope still exists. Fabian Barrera A replied with a heart hands emoji and a clip. Delver and Lucifer_Doggo started a whole thread about the game’s potential, with Delver exclaiming, “I hope destiny does well again, truly. I love the game, always have and always will.” Even with the frustrations, passion for Destiny is real for many.
At the end of the day, Reclaim is here. Whether players are diving in or sitting it out, the conversation around it only brings to the surface far greater issues Bungie must address-issues like rewards, server stability, and creating fresh content. So, for all of you jumping into Fireteam Ops, best of luck, and hey, maybe take some patience with you when those error codes start popping up. For those sitting on the sidelines, you can always consider the next update-or not. Really, who knows.
