I mean, really- should Bungie not have done some hype announcement? Destiny 2: Legacy Collection 2025 is a part of Humble Choice from September 2 to October 7. That’s like Humbie Bundle selling half the saga for probably a steal. But rather than being greeted by lukewarm “yay”s, the reply to this has been a huge volley of salt, scripting, and frustration. And honestly, I sympathize with them.

The idea is the collection should give a chance to “catch up on key moments” of Destiny’s big story arc. Yet almost all the replies are pointing out that this gigantic chunk of key moments isn’t even in the game anymore. LCWA! Not anymore for the Destiny Content Vault has wheeled those moments off.

Crusader II Elessar blatantly stated, “Most of the key moments aren’t available in the game because of the Destiny Content Vault. Until Bungie remedies this, my advice to new players would be to stay away.” That was fairly polite. Some even say it’s a scam. Ouch.

What story moments, plot-heavy expansions and following are named? Forsaken. Red War. Curse of Osiris. Warmind. All expansions were major story beat… currently unplayable. As og_megatron put it, “Forsaken being apart of the bundle but not being in the game is so crazy.” It’s like selling someone a book, but half the chapters are ripped out. You are left confused and feeling kinda ripped off.

Yet, the yell here aren’t just about what’s missing. Misleading, really. The Red Eyed Wolf calls, “Key moments? So what about all of Year 1? Year 2? Seasonal content and stories? People miss 70% of the story because you took it out.” They got a point! How the hell does one catch up on a story when most of it is just gone?

Joshua James Redfern interjected: “Cannot truly catch up seeing as 80% of the content no longer exists. I’d urge others not to buy this.” I don’t know if I would go that far, but that is quite a strong warning from the community itself. When your very own players telling novices to avoid your product, that’s a big red flag.

This all led to discussions about the possibilities for the consoles. Should do a Humble Bundle for consoles too. Fair point there. Then again, given the situation with the game, maybe console players are dodging a bullet here.

And the simple replies: “Game sucks,” came from Yakov Goldberg. And from ExoSmack, “We don’t gaf.” One that I loved came from LuisComW: “Put the fries in the bag.” I haven’t a clue what that means, but I’m going to take it as an insult, and I’m here for it.

Some wanted even more nuance; Felix said bringing back the vaulted content should be “at the bottom of their priority list.” Then the ensuing debate threw back: maybe they should reword the promo because key moments did happen in those now-deleted expansions.

Messy. Gorgeous salty mess. From the above, one thing remains certain whereby players feel totally burnt by DCV, calling that bundle irritation number two. They acknowledge that the story existing is really cool; basically, how do you recommend it when most of its foundation is filled with holes?

So what can we take away here? Bungie’s Legacy Collection will be available for a month. Yet the answer comes loud and clear: the Destiny Content Vault remains this gigantic unresolved gripe. They want the full story, not bits and pieces. Until then, such promos will just add more salt to the wound. So for those new players that are watching from the sidelines, the community’s consensus is pretty much: consider holding off on that purchase. Either wait for Destiny 3, as another user suggested, or just… play something else. The trust is fractured, and a Humble Bundle is not going to mend it overnight.
