The endless debate over the Praxic blade has probably gone on long enough. Some players simply think it is a waste of time while others enjoy its versatility. Bungie‘s latest announcement has opened up a wide range of discussions within the gaming community, some of them are surely unrelated to the matter but nonetheless worthy of attention.

If you are not interested in the noise and would like to stick to the facts only, then let me summarise. Bungie has made it possible for players to acquire the best gear through the new Lawless Frontier activity in Destiny 2 with less hassle. So the first thing you need to do is to finish the specified triumph, then get the upgrade token from the vendor Spider, and finally get to the toughest activity with the highest score to earn the best loot. The vendor’s latest endgame loot chase for the current season has begun.

The discussion has mainly focused on the issue of high-tier gear, which has ironically caused Bungie to unlock the complaints mechanism at Tower. The main tweet’s intention was to stir excitement around the new gear grind, but the community’s reaction has been a sort of half-hearted, somewhat skeptical acceptance. Almost instantly the discussion drowned in a cacophony of directions each covering a different topic all around but not including the gear farm.

One of the most divisive issues regarding the Star Wars crossover has been the Praxic Blade, the new sword. Player ‘vipereon27’ shared his annoyance in a tweet, “I swear the amount of praxis blades being used instead of actual dps weapons is annoying the hell out of teammates not helping with objectives just standing there blocking and wasting revives it was a mistake putting that damn sword in the game.” Ouch, that’s a rude comment to make. But it seems that it has managed to create a whole mini-battle among the replies that followed.

Some players were not shy at all and defended the sword. The ‘DiogoMLFLopes’ user gave the example of his own situation: “I get more kills with the praxic blade and do more dps than most of my randoms.” He was followed by ‘wrestlin_wasabi,’ who analyzed the issue more deeply: “The sword does very solid DPS if you stack relic perks and kinetic surge… The problem is casuals don’t min/max their builds like endgame players lol.” In other words, it is classic case of a powerful tool being expertly wielded by the right hands while in the others it becomes an absolute liability. The never-ending Destiny struggle goes on.

As for the PvP crowd, they interpreted the announcement as nothing more than an opportunity for them to air their grievances. ‘AirDroppedOn’ asked straightforwardly, “Can we get new PvP content? Maps please? New Anti-cheat?” A request that has been made for what seems like ages now. Another player, ‘ewo999,’ got really upset with the cosmetic rewards in PvP when he stated: “Why the hell would you put the red saber in pvp I waited months for this and it’s in a fucken gamemode I have 0 desire to play.” It reinforces the idea that for a significant part of the player base, even small pieces of news can open a window for the asking of their absolute wants.

And surely as the day comes the bugs and glitches accompany it. ‘mattjkrohn123’ said, “Portal scoring is still adjusting it down to c + at lvl549 fyi.” ‘TheNewZoo2’ was not happy about the layout of new abilities: “Why did you put the renegades abilities on the right thumb for consol. It gets randomly pushed in battle all the time.” Also, the promised loot system criticism saw ‘fedrjkze’ saying, “Even with that I still have t4 loot sometimes, is bullshit.” The high-tier gear path may not be as easy as the tweet suggests.

Bungie produced an unequivocal guide on how to cope with the new content and received a tumultuous mix of strategy debates, unrelated feature requests, and bug reports in return. It is as if the official channels were one game and the social media replies were the real, messy, unfiltered endgame. Players like ‘I_Am_Excell’ even sarcastically asked if Tier 3 armor is really “high tier,” thereby questioning the worthiness of the “high-tiered gear.”

Amidst all the clamor, those displaying the typical Destiny helpfulness were always around. One person was advertising a new clan, another player was discussing the new content available on PlayStation and Xbox.
