Bungie just rolled out Act III of Heresy for Destiny 2 right now, which means players can water drop right into the Sunless Cell in foiling Xivu Arath’s nefarious plan. This “horrid” Hive god is trying to pry off the Echo of Navigation from those irritating Guardian actors operating from behind the scenes; believe me, it sounds ominous beneath all that mystery.
The latest content is up and running, and yes, it deserves the hype, even though replies are oddly absent from that section.
What’s the deal with this Echo of Navigation? It’s vague and cryptic from Bungie’s end (flex your sarcasm muscle here), but lore-hungry fans are trying to connect dots on whatever they can to weave together the Witness-and-the-Veil saga. The general war? Cunning foresight, of course, but gently messing up navigation is not very sporting either.
Revival of the Sunless Cell-a dungeon praised by veterans because they witnessed it first when it was new in The Taken King-with an entirely new twist: nightmare. This dungeon is everything old-school Destiny: punishing mechanics and rewarding grind.
Early players of the dungeon say that the boss fights are crazy, and the ambiance? Peak Hive gothic. Very dark, dripping corridors, walls covered in chitin, and probably a couple of Thralls lurking around to jump scare you around corners.
What is odd is that there is absolutely nothing in the tweet announcing it. Destiny Twitter was usually a mash-up of hype, salt, memes, and more, but this? Crickets. Perhaps because everyone is processing things after playing 24/7. Or, the community is still trying to recover from its last round of nerfs. Either way, the silence feels… eerie.
Time to jump in with hard-mode preparations. No walk in the park; Xivu’s forces pack a punch, and the mechanics can be challenging to coordinate. Highly recommended: top-notch DPS, a good fireteam, and possibly a stress ball.
There are no insights yet as to how this ties into The Final Shape, but every update now feels like a piece of a larger puzzle with the expansion on the horizon.
For now, though, Guardians have a new nightmare to face. So pick up your guns, revive your friends, and shut down Xivu’s ritual before the real mess sets in.
And if you’ve cleared it already, do tell us all the juicy details-the rest of us want to know what kind of secret (or pain) awaits.
