Bungie has tossed a hot potato at the players of Destiny 2. Therefore, if still wavering, Contest Mode for the Desert Perpetual Raid shall be available for another 24 hours. The contest is still on. This is going to be the last chance for those Guardians who either do not attempt it or fail to make it in the first attempt. Now, this is where the duality really lies: glory or pain.
The announcement dropped sometime back via the very cryptic tweet of the official DestinyTheGame account: “Another path awaits.” No details or news further to this was conveyed, but the image attached showed the best sort of raid emblem art that sent water dribbling down onto the floor for the players at once. One reply called it “absolutely gorgeous,” and really, the sentiment could not have been better.
So, some rejoice? Login problems yet plague the PS4 players. Then a disgruntled Dame, LadyDana, went into a tantrum about having shelled out 100€ for this game and not being able to get in. Ouch. Then others wonder if Contest Mode is now set to Power Level 40 (it’s not, and the confusion is fairly justified).
Oh, and that PS5 Audio bug? Yes, it’s still there. Jake from the UK half-jokingly asked whether this “path we’re awaiting” might be the promised fix. Bungie kept mum on the question, so… probably not as yet.
Some simply sat and stewed about difficulty. Buford the Grump claimed Bungie were lying about enemy power deltas to make the raid harder, and some joked that a team of absolute sweats is needed to actually go for it. NitemareNinja hit the nail on the head: “Unless your team is cracked, no chance. I’ll stick to the crucible 😂🤣.”
But things weren’t all downhill. Some of the Guardians did enjoy watching demo-hash at the World’s First ruckus. And then there’s Killer_Clown4191, who just strolled over to 200 Power Light.
Of course, the juiciest question on everyone’s mouth is: Why are streamers still allowed to blank little parts of their screens during the event? Danny Acklam had started putting Bungie on the spotlight for answers. No answers yet, but conspiracy trains have long been pulled off their stations.
So what’s next? If you can dare to, you will regret missing out on Contest Mode if it is gone forever. Don’t expect to enjoy yourself unless you’re one of those loadout-switching maniacs Carlossssap laments about.
And if you are more like Moveable35, knowing you will never come out alive from Contest Mode? Well, at least you can look at it admiringly from afar with the help of this beautifully designed emblem.
But the final words are: Just for one more day, Desert Perpetual Raid in Destiny 2 remains the ultimate testing ground. Run away whether it is held dearly in your heart or laughed at; grinding never stops. Get your fireteam and pray you don’t get error-coded mid-fight-again.
