The official Twitter account of Bungie for Destiny 2 questioned the players regarding the in-game Dawning holiday event, and the reactions were very diverse. The developers asked the players which flavor of the virtual treat they would prefer most to get, and among the responses were very imaginative ideas and even some direct criticisms of the game. Such an interaction shows that the community around the game is still very active during the seasonal events of Destiny 2, even though some players remain frustrated with the new changes.

The Dawning is once more present in Destiny 2, right? Eva Levante comes to the Tower, and for several weeks, everybody is a space baker. To ask a very cute question that would certainly engage the community on Twitter, Bungie went ahead and asked, “If you could choose any Dawning treat, which flavor would be the best for you?” It is harmless sounding and just a fun little community engagement. Oh my, the replies are nothing but a buffet filled with chaos, creativity, and outright salt. It is like one tweet captures the entire Destiny community perfectly.

First off, there are players who really, really get into the lore and the whole atmosphere. They are always coming up with the most hilarious and excellent ideas. One player named β‹†β’π“†Λš.⋆ came up with, “crickets cookies to deliver to the Nessus frogs! Or maybe just cookies of Nessus frogs…with sprinkles!” Then they go further to say, “yes I would eat cookies of Nessus frogs if they were real.” Honestly, that is a vibe. Another player amii β™‘ is still lamenting the fact that she has never been able to give cookies to the Wish-Dragon Riven and she has even posted a whole fan art concept for a “Riven’s Thousand Layer cookie.” The commitment is serious and, in fact, Bungie, why can’t we feed the giant space dragon a snack? That sounds rude.

Next there are the plain and simple answers that also taste great, and these are just ordinary delicious sweets. Dark Chocolate Motes were the winners in this category with most of the players like 𝔐𝔦𝔰𝔰 𝔖𝔬𝔫 and others bringing their case. Peanut Butter Paw Prints also had its followers because who is not a fan of peanut butter? Besides that, traditional Eva’s butter cookies were mentioned as well. All the replies are good-natured, the responses that contentedly embrace the lightheartedness of the event. It is delighting.

But then again, what was I saying? Oh, yes! Just a little scrolling down and BAM! the whole atmosphere is completely switched. This is just Destiny Twitter, and no query is allowed to not turn into a complaint board. TheBruce13, a player, just posted the truth saying, “I haven’t played in over 2 months.” Well, thanks for sharing your opinion, man. Another person, maVer1ck82, said, “the weapons were not great this year so first time i did not even participate in the event.” And then there is the classic changeover to totally off-topic issues, like zs9inee who just wanted, “to take away lobby balancing from trials.” Like, we are talking about cookies here, dude. Cookies!

Though one of the most interesting controversies that came up was actually regarding the Dawning event itself. A user named Billy asserted, “it was a blast when you had to do bounties and deliver them to certain characters for bright dust.” The reply from another user Alex happened almost instantly when he said, “No, it wasn’t. There’s a reason bounties got removed. Just a time waster forcing you to play in a certain way for minuscule gain.” This is the core issue for gamers, you know? It’s not just about cookies. It’s about how the game world has changed, what players find rewarding, and the constant struggle between easy play and feeling one is doing something significant in the game at the same time. While some players dream of the past when they had to deal with a more demanding but character-driven delivery system others rejoice at its abolishment. It is a dichotomy in the very essence of people’s gaming experience.

Then there are players who just… aren’t there. One reply from Paul Vaccarello read, “Been playing through the campaign. I just unlocked the lightsaber and it’s so fun.” A minute, a lightsaber? That’s not in Destiny… oh, they probably mean Star Wars Jedi: Survivor or something. They just saw DestinyTheGame and tweeted about a totally different game. That actually happens more frequently than one would think and is always a bit funny. Another player, Dane Eremenko, was speaking about “arc raiders” and how good games get played and bad ones don’t, which started to sound like a comment from a PlayStation or Xbox community post.
