Bungie just released Arms Week in Destiny 2, and the reactions? They range to say the very least. The event is running now, giving the community the chance to get new weapons and show off their holofoil variants. But it is not an occasion for celebration. Some are rejoicing, others not so much.
Arms Week- survival? Basically, you go to the Event Home in The Portal and give the weapons a try. Simple enough? Well, not really. The community is split on this one. Some Guardians love the loot, while others feel it all is hollow, rushed, or pay-to-win. Oof.
Really the biggest complaint? Time-gate! Stories were being told by players like @iLLWiLL40 about how the highest-tier loot was locked out unless one no-lived the expansion since day one, whereas @srcnhknyksl quite astutely pointed out that “expecting players to hit power level 400 in two weeks for T5 Holofoil weapons is… optimistic.” Like, who has time for that? I suppose not folks with a day job.
And then, there is the whole Guardian Rank discussion. @Livemaster_yt dropped the bomb that T5 weapons are behind Rank 11, which requires Ultimate Difficulty clears-and since Ultimate is not even set yet, well… yeah. Back to grinding T3 drops at ADA-1 for players like @Sigman13, while he wonders at the game teasing T4 chances that he truly cannot get.
But not everything here is salty, y’all. @RePeteW is unwaveringly on this; Holofoil Havoc hype. And @CDizzle61701 is actually into the emphasis on weapon classes, though tiered loot does feel like they got the short end of the stick. But overall, it seems like much more needed to go into… thinking time for this event.
Oh, and then there’s the silver argument. @eventuallyTom and @Gunchaser say you cannot max the event without paying for it, and Bungie is being silent on the matter; if that’s true- yikes.
Is Arms Week worth it? Maybe for grinding while cruising past high-tier loot. But if you are expecting an egg-deep, fulfilling event, this one just gave you a little… kick.
And btw, @Wheezin_PJ inquired if the event coins carry over. No answer yet, but crossing fingers.
To summarize? Arms Week shows some promise, but as of now, a vast portion of Guardians are either scratching their head or flat-out logging off. Here’s hoping Bungie has their ears on.
