Trials of Destiny 2 has commenced this weekend’s events in Destiny 2 and the map designated for this event is Endless Vale. While a change of scenery can be refreshing, Endless Vale doesn’t offer much that would warrant excitement from players. This is primarily because everyone in the Destiny community is preoccupied with the plethora of challenges they face.

This morning, Bungie made an announcement about Trials and complaints began pouring in immediately in response to the tweet, and understandably so. And I’m not referring to the usual “Trials of Osiris is too hard” type of complaints. I am referring to plain ridiculous and, frankly, game-breaking issues that have been dragged for months. Maybe even years. The point is, no one knows.

Let’s start with the matchmaking because, wow, that is a disaster. There are so many reports coming in about multiple different players being thrown into the Flawless pool without actually being Flawless. Like, what the heck? One @mik19454646 user put it simply: “Im not even flawless but I’m in the flawless pool…its impossible WTF is going on.” And guess what? They’re not the only ones. Several other people are complaining about the lobby balancing being completely broken, forcing what seems like 1v5 lobbies, in a mode where you need seven consecutive wins to get to the Lighthouse.

Then there’s the Skull Crusher medal. This one @like_bungie user has been shouting at the top of their lungs for WEEKS (literally, their words, not mine – they wrote in all-caps for emphasis so you know they mean it). The medal has never worked, which is preventing players from gilding their titles. And apparently, Bungie just… hasn’t fixed it? Despite multiple complaints on Twitter and the official forums?

Then you have the legendary @Fury0n telling us that the quest for Tommy’s Matchbook catalyst has been broken on Xbox for weeks. We have also got the exile of the arcane texture bug in the vote screen noted by @tioZack32. And as for the cheating scandal, @phillyflyer28 everyone pointed out that cheating in crucible is the new norm, and bunkie is doing nothing for it except encouraging it. Oof.

The state of the games would be far better if these were the only issues we needed to concern ourselves with. A small yet vocal cohort of players appears to be quite pleased with this season’s new Trials armor. @LegacyKingX boasts to have purchased the entire set for their Titan and in comparison to Year 3 Destiny 1 armor, he labeled it, “amazing.” The new Trials armor design also received remarks from @phrog_lmao, who stated that it reminded him of Castle Crashers. Whether this is a compliment or an insult depends on one’s view of Castle Crashers.

Marking the end to the meta weapon discussion. As a response to a comment about the domination of scouts and pulses in trials, @James_harbo chimed in. Likewise, other members of the community also noted the excellence of Multiplex in this meta. Furthermore, the Graviton Spike is also said to be excelled in with the Endless Vale map.

But mostly… the commonality is frustration. @gwhizz87 is lamenting endlessly about the rewards. At 436 power level, they got tier 4 armor, no prime engrams to follow. The words “waste of time” were used, and Destiny Rising was the next venture.

Some anger has overlapped into anger. “I hate this game with the rest of the world’s opinion on it,” commented @MintedDrop, adding “The game is dead, the only people left are hackers for hire, and I hope all of you get fired by Sony.”

With all this in mind, let us return back to the centre point, shall we? The trays are back, the map is endless valle, and the gameplay is dripping in issues, cheaters, for quests that don’t unlock medals that don’t work, broken matchmaking, and terrible rewards are all plaguing this community right as they are about to crack.

Are Bungie or is this game going to address all of these issues? They will have to sooner or later, won’t they? For weeks straight, the players and their shouting about the same problems is something that the developers cannot turn a blind eye towards. While this is true, and nothing has been done, no, the issues haven’t been addressed. For the moment, if you are playing trials this weekend, just go in with lower expectations. Alternatively, just play something else while waiting for the fixes. If they ever come.
