DayZ players better pack their cameras and take sunrise shots for Bohemia Interactive to announce another big screenshot contest with some fascinating prizes. The #DayZ Screenshot Postcard Competition is now in force and is trying to get survivors to snap photos about their most dramatic moments for the official merch awaiting at Bohemia’s store.
Theme number one? Sunrise – which is very poetic, really, considering the whole point of the game is to find time to see one more day. Players are free to submit their best shots according to the rules on the official competition page; who knows, your screen savvy could win you a little merch.
One thing is for sure: The DayZ community almost never does any opportunity with too much quiet. The reaction to Bohemia’s tweet is a mad mixture of excitement, confusion, and downright ridiculous commentary. Some users, such as @sseemour, are sorting their archives to post 9-year-old vanilla DayZ screenshots, much like proud grandparents showing photos of their kids. Others, such as @JohnPraguer, appear annoyed that the weather just won’t cooperate in-game (“would if it wasn’t fucking cloudy 24/7 💔”).
Then there’s @TheArriana, who claimed they have “3TB of DayZ screenshots” and about “500000 photos of the sun” to submit. That is… a bit concerning? But also a zooming dedication. At the same time, @RealAlphaWezer couldn’t forgo throwing in a “Fix it” demand – somebody had to.
The rules raised very real questions: @impipapo wonders if modded DayZ screenshots would count (interesting point!), and @landuminium opened a discussion on the editing rules, claiming unedited shots should be much fairer. These are really good points that Bohemia might want to clear somewhere before copies start flooding in.
Early, but looks good! @Shadow23rd gave a lovely early-day shot of the skybox from the new lighting system, whereas @Kuzyn10 opted for something a bit darker, with a silhouette of the sun in the saddle. @Fr2tzy_ kept it simple, a crisp sunrise over the hills, while @DayZCreationHub really showed some muscle regarding composition.
Not everybody was about goodwill. @joey_nuts55481 had to trash-talk Takistan (“gotta be bottom five maps of all time”), and @DecSteele used the hype as a vent to complain about PS5 performance. Very DayZ.
The competition is just beginning, but already it’s showing what makes DayZ’s player base one of the most passionate (and wild) ever. Whether you’re a pro at screenshotting or someone who only occasionally stops running away from hordes of zombies just to look at the scenery, here’s probably your chance to fill up your website storage with in-game moments taken to real-life prizes.
Sunrise waits for no survivor, after all. Better get those snaps before anybody down way-landed a headshot mid-screenshot. Again.
