The release of Days Gone Broken Road DLC on GOG caused a ruckus amongst gamers. The new modes Speedrun, Permadeath, and Horde Assault (a survival arcade mode with even bigger hordes) are now offered to give players a new take on post-apocalyptic madness. Yet some sourpusses remain with excitement tempered until we get our sequel.
The announcement was a wildfire of reactions-one half celebrating what they got, others mourning an opportunity lost. A Twitter user, @BrokenRoad007, said that Days Gone was better than The Last of Us. Some say, like @ThatWasEasyy, that Sony rejected Bend Studio’s pitch for a sequel not once but twice. That hurts.
The classic Xbox vs PlayStation debate always tries to sneak its way in here. @Xavier1415 casually stated, “I’ll buy it when it comes to Xbox,” as if that is ever going to happen. @Ghost_Evo laughed at the idea and tweeted, “And some people thought it was coming to Xbox 🤣🤣 maybe in time but not today.” Spoiler alert: It is not.
But back to the DLC for a minute: Horde Assault sounds totally crazy—bigger hordes, faster chaos, yelling over mics, I assume. Speedrun and Permadeath? These are for those sadistic ones who simply never thought base game was bad enough. Bend Studio actually said, “You want a challenge? Here, suffer.”
As one would expect, soon enough the reply section rapidly turned into a battleground for hot takes, with some calling out the Xbox fans for doing the flex bomb on the ownership of games, while @Bouza_Vic wondered why anyone would expect Xbox to come to Days Gone’s rescue whilst having its own projects on the chopping block (cough Everwild cough).
Alas, and threw in some random Spanish drama in for good measure: @megalodonfoster and @SilvaA574 exchanged views on Xbox mishaps, which just proves that console wars are a truly global phenomenon.
In the end, the DLC is here with some really cool new modes. Whether you come for the insane chaos or still holding out hope for Days Gone 2 (don’t do that), it’s sure that Bend Studio knows how to keep the conversation alive. Now, go kill some hordes.
