Night City has further been transformed into a synthwave-style haven for photographers by the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update. Update 2.3 dropped recently, the big highlight of which was the Photo Mode. That thing you ignored while dodging bullets and hacking vending machines? Yeah. It has finally gotten cool enough to be noticed.
The devs goaded excitement on Twitter with: “Photo Mode got a glow-up. ✨ Your creativity? About to blow up. 💥” No biases there. The update brings tons of bits and pieces, including independent head, body, and eye movement adjustments to the point where you can basically pose your V like an action figure. One player named Adam (@adamc_vp) expressed euphorically, “What you guys have managed to do with the photomode is nothing short of amazing… I could kiss you all!😂”
The poses are just an appetizer. The orbit cam is now upgraded to a full-fledged free camera with literally no limitations in its range, so you can practically position yourself in whichever place you want to take a shot from, maybe even floating high above Night City like some walking cyber-ghost. And the players have already started flooding Twitter with some amazing captures: RecklessMonster (@MrRecklessVP) shared a moody neon-soaked pic captioned, “New photo mode poses and extra features. Love them so much! 💜.”
Of course, this excludes less favorable reactions. On the other end, justv11098 (@justv11098) shot back, “How about you lot actually make changes to GAMEPLAY, because last time I checked this isn’t a photo mode simulator ffs.” Ouch. Then you have Xbox Series X players begging for fixes, such as Fullmetalgeant, who said outright, “Now fix Xbox série x version.”
And from CD Projekt Red, another hot take from Marcin Momot: “IF YOU DON’T LOVE PHOTO MODE YOU DON’T LOVE CYBERPUNK!” Okay, maybe a wee bit over-the-top, but you feel the passion. Johan (@DIYMaker_Johan) fired back: “I’m not really a photo mode person… But I definitely love Cyberpunk 2077!! 🤟😊🤟” So, uh, guess the jury is still out.
And then there’s the Photo Mode Contest they’re hosting. Yeah, basically, they’re challenging players to outdo each other in virtual photography for… prizes? Bragging rights? Nobody really knows. But the clicks are already coming. Mo Tannen (@MoTannen) dropped another slick shot and captioned, “Incredible photomode 🫶🫶,” while Paulieg610 (@Paulieg6102) humbly chimed in with: “I ain’t the best photographer in the world, but for my first time, I tried my best.”
So, is Update 2.3 some kind of ultimate game-changer? Absolutely, if you enjoy Photo Mode. For the rest of us? Well, Night City is looking better than ever. If they could find time to give us that rain effect we’ve been chasing for…
