Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.3 put forward by CD Projekt Red now has four cool mechanisms for players to choose between in the chaotic traffic of Night City. The Cyberpunk account officially started sending some hype with an emo put: cars, bikes, and trucks all loaded with their own background and attitude. The studio wants to bring several players back into the game with these new vehicles, and reactions from the player-base have been… well, let’s say rather mixed.
On the bright side? More horsepower, literally. With these four new vehicles in tow, you can expect many options for getting around Night City, whether abiding by the traffic laws (laughs) or just hard fugitive from NCPD (most likely). The tweet kept droning on about driving safely or fast enough not to get caught by the cops, two things that really echo the anarchical spirit of Cyberpunk.
Here is probably where it is going to get ugly. People are dissatisfied! A handful thought that, as @justv11098 put it, the update was “useless” because, generally speaking, the driving mechanics had been rough in Cyberpunk. “Auto drive? Broken. Delamain? GTA has a feature like this and people don’t even use it since it’s too slow,” they said. Others, like @QboneSuper, flat out called first-person driving “is ass” and expressed hope for its fix.
Here’s the real kicker: the infamous disillusioned went ahead and started complaining about what wasn’t included. @wrinklestinkle considered 2.3 overhyped and rather distanced from the gargantuan overhaul of 2.0. @lerixx911 said, “Free content is nice, but I’d rather have new weapons, new kill animations.” And @P3ket craved anything for deeper character customization: improved tattoos, cyberware, body mods—something to spruce up Night City a bit.
A few players found the silver lining. @M_rq__really enjoyed chasing the target with one of the vehicles so much he replayed the mission immediately. @JadeEmpire64 applauded the visual improvements on the PlayStation Pro. However, even the positive ones came with an “however”: while cool, the autotrain still needs to get fixed, @headspaceastro2 admitted.
But even moreso what everyone secretly was thinking: New Game Plus. “@illusiveSmoove also bluntly said: still no new game plus.” Many others also questioned the point of new cars with the current lack of any meaningful post-story content; “How many playthroughs can you do at this point?” they wondered.
Which brings us back to the question of where Cyberpunk 2077 stands. Clearly, the game has come a long way since its disastrous launch, and these free updates such as this showed CD Projekt Red’s commitment to its improvement. But, the players want more—whether it’s polished mechanics, deeper customizations, or some other way to keep them enthralled after the credits have rolled. So, for now, the cars in the updates will work just fine for anyone hungry for a new ride through Night City. Just don’t expect everybody to be thrilled about them.
And, well, if nothing else, at least you can still slam your car on a wall and call it a “character.” Thank you for this, @Bastii10236223.
