This piece of news from the developers was huge for Cyberpunk 2077 players: Patch 2.3 is coming to the game, and a deep dive into all the new changes will be done at the next REDstreams. This stream is planned for Wednesday, 16 July 2024, precisely at 17:00 CEST; its guests will be Paweł Sasko, associate game director for Cyberpunk 2, and Adrien Jouannet, Virtuos lead designer.

The tease in the announcement on Twitter suggested that they’ll “look under the hood” of the update, thus leading to wild speculations from the players. Some hope it is something car-related (possibly vehicle personalization) while others hold onto a slim hope for a third person or even a New Game+ feature. The community is split; half of it is hyped, and half is skeptical, but everybody will be tuned in to see what comes next for Night City.

The stream of wishlists and demands flooded CDPR’s social accounts. One user pleaded for console FOV sliders, and another called for a third person mode (Warm responses followed after someone labeled the call “gay”). Some optimists hope for radiant gigs to prolong playtime, while most just want to get a clue if Lucy from the anime is gonna make an appearance. Then there were some goofy ones making jokes about the patch number—”2.3 stands for third-person, right??”

Semantics around the phrase: “great” stabilization. One player admitted to having played it only once at launch but really wanted to pick it up again after Phantom Liberty. Then the debate went onto performance, with one player disagreeing, saying it’s “incredibly stable now” compared to its disaster release. Cut back to the choke vibes guy, calling the critics “self-important pricks” who can’t stomach seeing some people enjoying the game. Classic internet.

Never said anything by CDPR, although car-side suggestions got some folks worrying it’ll be “photo mode and wheels” again. The fun thought now arises, of course, on what racing leagues or deep customizations will produce. Any real update is a win still, post-rough launch.

Cautiously optimistic beings are gathering around Patch 2.3 if it’s QoL, content, or just finally fixing some dreaded legacy bugs (yes, someone blamed V’s cyberware for some of their own bugs). Tune in on Wednesday to find out if Night City is worth reinstalling or if it just needs a new neon paint job.

Oh, and speaking of B-Roll: Please disregard anything pro or con you may find in the replies. That, I assure you, fixes some of the mystery on how somebody managed to pull PS5 Pro into the very patch discussion. Priorities, people.
