While Cyberpunk 2077‘s release has been, to say the least, a complete disaster for CD Projekt Red, the game itself has sold incredibly well, as CDPR recently revealed that their latest release has sold over 13 million copies across all platforms. Also, it’s worth noting that the studio has said that the number includes sales that were later refunded, although they didn’t reveal the number of refunds that have been processed since the game’s December 10 release.

Despite the various issues that have plagued Cyberpunk 2077, the game has sold an additional five million copies since it was released earlier this month.

In the weeks leading up to the game’s release, CD Projekt Red revealed that Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-order numbers exceeded that of any previous Witcher title, including The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was previously their best-selling game.

“First, the expected ratio between digital and physical on our sales, as we see it on preorders digital is very strong, so definitely we are more into moving potential split digital/physical, and more on the digital side. How far we’ll go? We honestly speaking do not know, definitely farther than we had on the Witcher 3 and definitely more than 50% should come from the digital channel.

“And then the history of Witcher 3 shows the longer the game is on the markets, the more — the split shifts towards digital again. On Witcher 3, it’s vast majority. And on Witcher 2 and 1, it’s — let’s say 99% of the revenues we generate are digital. So, this is the only direction that can be expected in that near and longer term.”

Most of the game’s pre-orders were digital, but for now, Cyberpunk 2077 is no longer available to be purchased digitally on the PlayStation Store. As of right now, there’s still no word on when the game will return to the PS4/5’s marketplace, but CD Projekt Red is planning to release two major hotfixes in the coming months, one in January, and another in February. Also, in the weeks following its release, CDPR has released several updates that have improved the experience for some players.

It’s worth noting that, while the game cannot be purchased digitally on the PlayStation Store, PS4/5 users can still get a physical copy of the game. But, if you want to purchase the game digitally, you’ll probably have to wait until most of the game’s issues are fixed, which might not be until the second big update in February.
