During Monday’s Night City Wire live stream, CD Projekt Red showed a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 that details the game’s lifepath choices, which serve as the starting points for its main protagonist, V.

The trailer showcased the three different starting points for V: Nomad, Street Kid, and Corpo. Each backstory will bring unique missions and dialogue choices, which, in theory, should give Cyberpunk 2077 a ton of replay value.

  • Street Kid – V will be from the Heywood district, and his/her childhood memories include: “robbing buildings, running away from badges, and the taste of blood from a split lip.” With this backstory, V will come from a place where everyone is constantly fighting for a “slice of the street.”
  • Nomad – The Nomad backstory is a more peaceful upbringing for V, as the game’s main protagonist spends their formative years in a rural location, before ultimately deciding to move towards Night City because his/her family is “in pieces.” In the game, Nomads have a powerful hunger for freedom and are willing to do whatever it takes to find it.
  • Corpo – V will begin his or her journey as a corporate employee, where they’re working under Saburo Arasaka, who is 158 years old and is described as being megalomaniacal and obsessed. The Corpo boss also says that he hates America, and says that his duty is to elevate Japan to its former glory. With this backstory, V is, or was, responsible for keeping Arasaka in power.

Recently, some people were receiving emails inviting them to participate in Cyberpunk 2077’s pre-launch beta, but CD Projekt Red has since said that there won’t be a beta for the game and that any emails that people are receiving aren’t legitimate.

“If you recently received an email claiming to be granting you beta access to Cyberpunk 2077, it’s not from us,” said CD Projekt Red. “Unfortunately, there have been more of these being sent out over the past few weeks. When we contact you via email, it’ll always come from @ cdprojektred com address.

“Same goes for content creators. We always reach out directly from @ cdprojektred com domain. If you are being contacted by a third party claiming to be working with us (an ad agency, for example), you can assume it’s not genuine.”

Barring any further delays, Cyberpunk 2077 is currently scheduled to be released for consoles (current and next-gen) and PC on November 19.
