Capcom has earlier announced a new exhibit in Tokyo named ‘CAPCOM CREATION: MOVING HEARTS ACROSS THE GLOBE’ at the Creative Museum Tokyo, where they explained the game-making process and introduced the Street Fighter characters in the new project Capcom Fighting Hyakunin Isshu. Besides, the company has also planned a login period for Street Fighter 6 players during which they will get free in-game ‘New Challenger’ visuals just for logging in. However, the news has caused a backlash among the Street Fighter community who complain that the developer is giving out garbage content, and at the same time, has technical problems, and is not communicating properly.
Capcom squeaks out this new piece of news about a super-duper museum in Tokyo and free SF6 login bonuses, right? You might think, hey, free stuff, that’s nice. But the reaction… it’s like they have just stirred up trouble among the bees. The official Street Fighter account published the details, and the replies are just being filled with player frustrations. It’s hard to believe how one single post can demonstrate the disparity between what the company promotes and what the community actually requires.
First of all, there is the news itself. The ‘CAPCOM CREATION’ exhibit is already open for the public. It has been set up at the Creative Museum Tokyo and tells how games are made—really the entire process. This is really great for anyone living or taking a trip to Japan. One of the parts of the exhibition shows the Street Fighter characters in a totally new ‘Capcom Fighting Hyakunin Isshu’. For people who may not know, a guy named ryo_redcyclone has kindly given a definition in a reply that Hyakunin Isshu is an ancient Japanese card game based on poetry—it is somewhat like a competitive karuta thing. So, they will blend that with fighting game characters. It may not be to everyone’s taste, but it’s definitely a fun idea for a display.
Next, we have the online bonus: if you simply log in to Street Fighter 6 during the long period from late December 2025 to late February 2026, you will be able to see special ‘New Challenger’ visuals. These are basically profile pics or something that has an illustration from the Hyakunin Isshu project. Free cosmetics should be viewed as a net gain for everyone.
Nevertheless, players are not interested in it. The top comments do not refer to the exhibition or the complimentary items. They are referring to the problems. Huge ones. One user RENAI specifically pointed to the current issues with Street Fighter 6’s top-up system, where virtual currency purchased with real money is not being credited. ‘We hope Capcom will promptly take notice and deal with this problem officially,’ they said. That’s a financial bug affecting players straight-on—much more urgent than museum news.
And this is just the start of it. The section for comments quickly changed into a list of complaints. Gamers are shouting for a balance patch. ‘Balance patch and content?????’ asked Kazusa Touma. Another gamer, Hicone, asked for better control schemes for new characters released, claiming that Modern Blanka is lacking major moves compared to DLC characters. ‘This is not the same experience at all,’ they posted, adding a sad face emoji.
Then, there is the content drought. This is a serious problem. Some potential players pointed out Capcom’s lack of communication on the subject as the reason for the silence. Superchampz Live was very vocal in this regard, replying with a GIF of someone waiting for a long time and saying, ‘This is me waiting for actual good content for the game.’ They went on to say in another post that the game has ‘no MEANINGFUL content at all,’ labeling four characters per year as ‘laughable’ and criticizing the absence of costumes, new moves, or high-rank rewards. They even referred to a post that was made a year ago, insinuating that nothing has changed. ‘Things are still the same or worse…’ they commented.
The topic of costumes is a major pain point. User Joshua Torre asked the question bluntly, ‘any costumes? christmas costumes? u guys are missing out so much money.’ This is a widely held opinion—for the players who are ready to pay for cool skins, Capcom is just not offering them. Others, like RedVortex, argued that the UI elements of Battle Hub should be purchasable with earned Drive Tickets instead of using premium currency, dubbing Capcom ‘corporate greed [sic].’
The communication issue, or rather the absence of communication, is another matter that often comes up. Victor Perez said, ‘Please if you are in some kind of trouble I think that it is your duty to tell what is going on to fans because the lack of content and communication is really scary right now.’ That’s a player who is really concerned about the future of the PlayStation and Xbox versions.
