Right. So Call of Duty has dropped that new map: Jackpot, really? It looks great. This 6v6 map is basically throwing the operators into the middle of a casino heist gone wrong, drawing heavily from the High Rollers section of the Black Ops 6 campaign as well as the BO4 Casino map, which everyone adored. Avalon casino’s floor is pretty much destroyed and in complete pandemonium; that is exactly what we desire from a COD map, right??
Well, now that Activision is pushing new content, the community basically has NONE of it. Briefly scrolling through the replies to the announcement tweet shows a waterfall of anger and frustration pouring down, and the ironic thing is, it’s not even about the map.
The players are absolutely mad as hell that Treyarch and Activision promised Zombies news “early September” and here we are with… nothing. Absolutely nothing. The replies are flooded with “WHERE IS BO7 ZOMBIES” and “HEY REMEMBER THAT ZOMBIES TEASER YOU PROMISED” and honestly? They’re not wrong.
One of the top replies sounds really fair right there from the COD: Zombies News account @MargwaNetwork, “I think you guys forgot to post the zombies teaser today? The one that is part of the ‘week of zombies’ that starts early September?”, and like … yeah. Where is it??
And there are more – or less, depending on how you look at it. The anger is not just about missing Zombies content. Players are basically ripping the current state of Black Ops 6 apart. The Ninja perk is, like, broken according to roughly every other reply. People are saying they can’t even move without everyone hearing their footsteps, which basically makes the perk useless? Also, they’re tired of sitting in corners because moving means instant death.
@DaniDeluxeXO sums it up perfectly: “Would love to enjoy the new map with my ninja perk but I keep dying due to everyone being able to hear my footsteps when I have to plant. I’m tired of sitting in a corner not being able to move. Bro fix this im so serious.”
And it’s not just that one person saying it, it’s dozens replying the same way. Fix Ninja. Fix the servers. Fix the anti-cheat. The community is basically in open rebellion on the state of the game while Activision is out here like, “Look shiny new map!”
The other responses are just brutal. @forknoses goes brutal with “Hahahahaha no one gives a fuck,” and @ScrubzOnYT chimes in, “You know it’s bad when cod tweets don’t even excite you anymore… This game is buns man drop bo7 already so we can see how buns that is too.”
Oof. But you’d be right. When your community would rather you just hurry up and release the NEXT game because the current one is so messed up? Ugly.
There are some interesting discussions ongoing about Battlefield potentially influencing Call of Duty going forward. Some players are thinking competition is forcing Activision into changes, but… are they the right changes?
Though the Jackpot map feels good. I’m almost sure it’s the casino con with all those slot machines and gaming tables all wrecked from whatever went down in the heist? Classic COD chaos. And taking inspiration from the BO6 campaign and a beloved BO4 map is just a wicked move. Just like painting a fresh coat on a car with a broken engine.
Really telling is just how many players here are drained of energy. @LazzyEthan Tweeted, “I’m so bored of gaming right now, i might just reinstall BO6,” basically the nail in the coffin. When your game itself is so problematic that players would actually consider reinstalling the former? Yikes.
The gap between what Activision wants to be promoting and what the community actually cares about at this moment is glaring. They want to show off new maps while players are begging for basic functionality fixes along with the Zombies content that they were promised. It’s like two completely different conversations that are happening at the same time.
The thing is – the Zombies community has been waiting PATIENTLY for news. They were told “early September” and here we are deep into the month with radio silence. No teaser, no trailer, no nothing. Just a new multiplayer map that many players can’t even properly enjoy due to gameplay shackles.
Clearly, this is a case of developers not listening to their player base. Cast your eyes over the replies: overwhelmingly about fixing existing problems and delivering promised content, not about celebrating new additions. When your announcement tweet has hundreds of replies, and 90% of them are complaints, maybe you should attend to those complaints first.
Fun, for those who can get past the current issues. Casino areas always make for interesting multiplayer locations with all the varying elevations and hiding places. But until Treyarch fixes that Ninja perk and really backs those Zombies promises, hyping anything new is going to be tough for a lot of players.
At this point, communication is all the community wants. Tell them when Zombies news is coming. Acknowledge the perk issues. Show them that you are listening. Because right now? It is as though they are just throwing new content at the wall hoping something will stick while ignoring all the real problems that players are dealing with day in and day out.
Maybe at Jackpot, all of that will be wiped under the carpet for good. Maybe the fresh map is that good. But knowing how the community has been treated so far… very unlikely. The Call of Duty community has spoken, they’ve asked for patches before any form of new content.
