So Call of Duty dropped some cryptic little toe cards for us. It was just static noise with the words “A warning emerges from the Dark Aether…” followed by a link. That’s just about it. No trailer drops, no title; just vibes. The entire community went wild.
In Dark Aether, again in terms of Zombies’ lore, one ends up with this parallel dimension in which all the spooky things happen in the Black Ops’ storyline. That’s monsters coming from there; that’s where all the magic happens. Any mention of that gets people hyped.
But here is where it gets weird. Every speculation is on. People are sure it is a clue to the return of TranZit. Good or bad, TranZit is one of those maps that are specifically iconic for their…clunky nature, the bus, fuzzy fog, the Denizens—it was one complete experience. Straight up AustinM425 said, “If you’re bringin’ back transit, I’d love that!” and I mean, mood.
The ImfamousWarrior didn’t mince words about this, “Ah yes more old maps yall have been sitting on since Bo4 flopped and zombies chronicles 2 got canceled. The old cods still work fine y’all I advise getting $5 used copies and not wasting your time or money on another rushed cash grab” Harsh but fair, maybe.
Then there’s the whole argument of whether or not those are actually Denizens. Curdsta responded to MargwaNetwork, “It’s definitely like the new denizens,” with a handful of others expressing tinier amounts of clarity. A1phaM9 inquired, “How has no one ever noticed this,” which is a perfectly good question. The COD community usually finds everything pretty much immediately.
Others are just along for the ride. SilenceArsenal said, “This brings back memories 😭,” and with that, TranZit was released 2012?? That’s over ten years ago. Feeling old yet? TomatoMan45 even wondered, “IS THAT MY BOY, MARLTON JOHNSON!,” as they apparently believe they hear one of the characters from the original map.
But no one has time for such sentiment. bluemonkeysloth replied, “Yeah yeah that’s cool and all but when is the trailer,” and that’s so real. That is a good audio clip but where the meat at. KorruptedBoss just said, “A warning of more let down,” which, while cynical, is a worthwhile sentiment really, after some of the recent CODs.
Then just a few replies later there’s some random drama involving some dude named Jebidiah Brown?? Jamesperrott1 states, “bro knowing jebidiah brown doesn’t make you special, you’re not the only one who’s watched random long zomvies lore videos,” which is cracking me up! The zombies lore community is something else, man.
And then Stormsoulz comes up and drops this: “A warning not to buy the yearly Call of Duty 🚩🚩,” which I honestly think is straight-up hilarious.
What is interesting is how the community stands divided on this. Some people are over the moon about the prospect of TranZit returning, while others are more like: “no please not again.” Deep cut or not, vDdog_ claps back with: “Bus route B.”
What all this truly is would be a classic COD campaign: They throw some vague stuff right into the hands of the community, allowing said community to bounce theories around, thus building hype for a release that never really lands into anyone’s hands. Honestly, it is just genius. It puts the chatter in-game, engulfs everybody in speculations. And really, if this ends up being TranZit or something completely else, it still has the zombies world talking, and that’s all that matters.
This is scary, let’s talk about that. The radio static with those cracked voices were waving high flags of old zombies magic. That’s a good nostalgic memory of staying up late hours trying to survive rounds with a close group of friends. Oh, the good ol’ times.
Wait, wait, hold on, what was I telling you? Oh, so Call of Duty did something from the Dark Aether tease. All are thinking it might be TranZit for the possible Denizen sounds, and what’s happening is the community split between the pumped and the doubtful. A typical COD zombies moment. A real reveal will probably happen sooner rather than later, but till then, speculation is gonna be their pastime. And funny thing? That actually is, like, half the joy of being a zombies fan—mysteries, theories, debates on whether TranZit was really good or not. All of that is some heavy calorie food for us. So, everybody listen in for some more creepy radio transmissions because, well, something is definitely sending from the Dark Aether, whether we’re ready for it or not.
