The entire range of perks in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has been made public right before the game release and there has been an instant discussion around the perks. The source CharlieINTEL, which is very reliable, leaked the info and revealed all the perks’ complete selection in different categories. Some of the community’s opinions are already divided regarding some of the options.
The question arises as to what will be the perks available to us. The perks are organized in the same way as before with different categories like movement, stealth, and survival. Players have been given FLAK JACKETS for blast resistance, ghost for hiding from the radar, and lightweight for quick maneuvers. The familiar ones are all there but some changes have been made that have stirred the players’ discussions.
The new Assassin perk is the most talked-about one among the gaming community. Does it reveal the enemy team which player is getting the most kills? So, if you are having a great time and getting kills, your location will be notified to everyone. The players are indeed divided on this matter.
Some really detest it. A user by the name of Da Floppy Fish NJD was not at all shy in expressing his dislike for it, asserting that “doing good and getting a streak should not lead to punishment. Modern cod has been facing this issue for years.” That’s the gist of the gaming argument—why being a good player should result in a punishment?
However, there are other gamers who are like… but wait, it might not be that bad? RileyTheWolfYt attempted to clarify by stating “all that assassin does is to put a cross on the person’s minimap dot to indicate that he is on a streak and give somebody extra points for that.” So, it’s not like you are completely visible, just… tagged. And if you are that skilled, it should not really be a problem, right? That was also JoeBraddock3’s argument – “if a player is not that good, then this perk will be a l for them, but if a player is good then they will not be bothered if the enemy knows they are coming.”
Next is the Ghost perk. The description says you will be “invisible to UAV when moving, planting, defusing.” This is just the Ghost’s behavior for the new game. But Hawiian_Ryan became so fed up with this mechanic that he even thanked EA DICE??? They are so done with the UAV hide-and-seek game that they are even considering switching to Battlefield. That is how much dividing this thing gets.
Moreover Taliani06 was asking in French whether you could have Ninja and Tactical Sprint at the same time meaning he wanted to be super stealthy AND very fast at the same time. The reply seems to be a no implying you must choose to be either silent or quick. That is the old CoD logic in a nutshell.
But Flak Jacket is the only one that everybody seems to love. Many commented saying “Flak jacket is literally never bad” and “Flak jacket would be needed in almost every call of dury” – they misspelled duty but you got the point. Some perks are just always even there, even not very useful, no matter the situation.
It was also mentioned that the whole Specialist thing xochurch said – “We running specialist” – which for those who do not remember, being a Specialist in older CoD games meant rather than collecting kill streaks you would get all the perks in the game after a certain number of kills. So some players are already planning to just avoid the whole perk selection process.
The Lightweight vs Flak Jacket argument is very much alive. EbexGaming argued that “lightweight was extremely powerful in the beta” while others were saying Flak Jacket is a must-have. Mobility and Survivability have always this balancing act that determines how people play.
Then there are just the gamers who are feeling quite exhausted. ReactionsChill simply said “Same shit every year.” which… that’s fair? How many times can we shuffle the same perks and still call it new? But on the other hand, there are guests like Milovxyvy and KamariSamaZZ who are so hyped, saying they “cannot wait to play this fabulous game” complete with the sarcastic quotes and all.
The Charge Link perk was mentioned by itsbeyxnd who called it “lowkey op for comp” thus indicating it as one to be watched for the competitive scene. And Mike_MikeS0107 was questioning why we can’t have the Cold War version of Assassin that gives bonus points instead of making the player pick up care packages.
It is amazing how much stir one perk list can cause, so to say. People are already theorizing, complaining about balance, and making strategies even though the game has not been launched yet. It’s simply the same old CoD community—ever ready.
