Bungie has made known a fresh charity emblem for its “Game2Give 2026” event, which is highly awaited by game lovers. Bungie announced it through a confusing system notice that also confirmed the “A Thousand Hugs” emblem which received immediate attention in the Destiny 2 community. There were people who were excited about the emblem which would draw attention like an eagle, and also other people who were already worried about the emblem’s distribution among the players and hence, the concerns about its value.

Well, Bungie just did that! A little weird, a little cool, and a little creepy like a system notice tweet. But yes, indeed! It’s all in that classic Destiny’s overlay saying “A THOUSAND HUGS IS A GAME2GIVE 2026 EMBLEM”. The community managed to get ahead of them… but in a not so coherent way. It’s like half of the responses are pure, ecstatic hype and the other half are already bracing for the worst. Classic Destiny community behavior before, to be honest.

Let’s start with the fact that the emblem is indeed breathtaking. “Scientia Illuminata 2” is the name that people are coining it and it evidently alludes to one of the most coveted and rare emblems in the game’s history. The first Scientia Illuminata was a charity deal and the price it goes for, if you can find a seller, is mind-blowing. So If Bungie is unleashing what seems to be a spiritual successor, then yes, it will get a lot of attention. Player MysteriousPirate just expressed “This emblem is so beautiful 😍 💖❤️” and honestly, mood. It’s a lovely design.

But this is where the havoc sets in. The million-dollar question popped up almost instantly: what do you have to do to get it? And that’s when the anxiety strikes in. You know, Bungie has had… a somewhat inconsistent history… regarding these charity emblems. Sometimes they are just simple donation incentives: donate $20 to charity during the Game2Give stream and then get your code. It is simple, healthy, and a great experience.

On the other hand, they would occasionally make the emblems prizes for giveaways held by content creators which means that players would have to pray that the name of their favorite streamer is drawn out from a hat or worse, that the codes will get to the black market and be sold for hundreds of dollars. The tweet from ChildishCG just outright predicted “$200 streamer emblem incoming,” and a lot of other comments are just yelling at Bungie not to take such a route. FilthyFox pleaded, “Please please PLEASE don’t barricade this behind content creators… not another one…” You can almost feel the exhaustion.

It is a strange dilemma, isn’t it? On the one hand, you have people like ForeverParm saying “Can’t wait to raise money FOR THE KIDS,” which is exactly what it is all about! Charity! Good vibes! But on the other hand, there are players who are just fed up with the whole thing. RainIoss bluntly stated, “just don’t make it a content creator giveaway emblem. shit is cringe as fuck.” And you know what? He is right. It can be quite revolting when an item meant for charity becomes a status symbol accessible only to the lucky or the wealthy and not the good.

Some responses are just amusing due to the desperation behind them. Rayquazaqa declared, “I will do anything for this emblem,” which is the same for me, but maybe let’s not be that specific? And then, there is this player who just used the chance to ask for a name change. Like, totally off-topic. 1xKnife just casually dropped “i want name change. give name change plz.” Destiny community, don’t ever change. Never change.

The financial side is very genuine as well. Beka 🐰 ❄️ Commented, “I need thiiiiis, hopefully not too expensive to get one of these!” while another user, notperion simply asked “$25 or $300”. That literally summarizes the fear perfectly. Is it going to be a modest donation or a luxury item? Izanagi joked, “i will be spending money on this even tho itll only cost me over $100,” which is probably less of a joke and more of a painful acceptance.

Naturally, it would be impossible to have a Destiny community moment without some pure, unfiltered salt. EastwoodFlinch lamented, “Another emblem that’s not in game and better than the crap earned by playing 👎”. Ouch. That was tough but you can definitely hear that feeling a lot. The players are grinding for countless hours to get the emblems that are quite basic compared to the stunning charity ones that Bungie drops.

So, what do we get from this? The unveiling of the emblem has sparked conversations on platforms like PlayStation and Xbox communities.
