Bloons TD 6, the much-loved tower defense game, is now available for free on the Epic Games Store. The campaign, which was tipped off by the leaker HYPEX, runs up to January 15 and allows players to add the game to their collection without spending a dime. This is not the first time Epic games have offered the title as a free game choice, which indicates how much the game is still enjoyed.
I mean, seriously, is Epic just handing out Bloons TD 6 again?? For free?? I’m not whimpering but my backlog is already yelling at me. HYPEX revealed the story and the feedback was, as always, a wonderful mess of joy and misunderstanding. One user, SenpaiGamingYT, was actually in the process of downloading Bloons TD 5 because they didn’t want to spend seven bucks on 6. Talk about good timing, huh? They posted “Wow what a coincidence lol just downloaded bloon td 5 cause I refuse to pay 7 bucks for 6 and now I can get it for free let’s go.” That’s some lucky timing for a gaming enthusiast.
But the world of the internet can be so unforgiving. One user, Lukkjkkjk, simply stated, “Nobody cares, irrelevant game.” which is, like, cool dude, just your opinion. Uncle Ruckus Gaming (great name by the way) replied with a meme and challenged them to stop being so dramatic. A typical gamers’ quarrel. It is quite funny how one game’s free status can lead to such drama.
In fact, one of the main points of the discussion turned out to be that the franchise is not going to die. Users like Phil and PSS voiced similar opinions but in slightly different words: “It’s amazing how this series has retained such a massive and dedicated player base years after its first release.” And they are absolutely correct. That is just how it is. The game has changed with the times and kept its place, but still, it is very addictive. When Epic gives it away, it is like saying “here, throw away another 200 hours of your life,” just as MAD Vincent put it. They are very smart and careful with their moves.
There were some misunderstandings in the comments again, which is the case most of the time. Someone wanted to know whether it was free on the App Store or Play Store and the answer is no, it is only available for free on the Epic Games Store on PC. Consequently, mobile users will not be able to take advantage of this offer, they still have to buy the game. Another user was asking about update downtime which was quite off-topic and indeed irrelevant to the free offer, but hey, there are questions everywhere.
Isn’t it incredible that this is not the first time Bloons TD 6 was free on Epic? It just comes back over and over again like the regrow rainbow bloons in a round. Baku simply commented “It keeps coming!” which is true. Epic’s marketing strategy is to keep rotating through great indie and mid-tier titles so that customers check their store every week. And you know what? It works. I check it. You check it. We all have that Epic library of free games we have promised to play one day.
So, if you haven’t claimed the game yet you have until January 15. It’s a no-brainer. Even if you are not a big fan of tower defense games, the price is so low that you might find yourself hooked. Shadow76932 called it the “Best tower defense game let’s go,” and they had it for years already. That’s quite a recommendation.
The whole case indeed shows that the gaming industry could gain a lot from a well-timed giveaway. It creates hype, gets people to talk (and fight), and brings a classic game to a new audience that might have passed it up otherwise. For a series with such a long history, these promotions are like an adrenaline shot, keeping the community dynamic and active. Ultimately, it’s a win for Ninja Kiwi, a win for Epic, and a massive win for gamers. Just get ready to say goodbye to a few hundred hours because those monkeys are very demanding.
