While the whole world was melting down over an entire internet wall, Blizzard must have just gone into Twitter to show jaw-dropping Tyrande Whisperwind cosplay. The High Priestess of Elune was brought to life by @vira_nailovna, with pavlovtony providing superlative photography, and honestly, some people said it looked like CGI at first.
The tweet portrayed Tyrande draped in moonlight, fancy armor, glowing tattoos, and that distinctive ethereal aura that makes Night Elves famous to be. The level of detail is just insane; how does something like this even exist?? Naturally, gamers flooded the reply section with extreme awe, mixed with some fiery debates on the angle of view (more on that later).
One of the gamers even went on to say, “Is this real? It can’t be, right?” @wenlll went all out with saying, “Cosplayers are better than freaking Hollywood,” and honestly? There is no denying it. The workmanship here surpasses anything you could ever imagine-from the fabrics to the lighting-it looks like the actual Tyrande stepped right out of Azeroth.
Alas, just as always, the internet found itself split in opinion. @IndieThraxx went on to unleash a whole thread attacking the photo’s perspective, claiming that the scaling was off because Tyrande appeared “300 times bigger than the trees.” @OoooFishy shot back immediately: “Those are flowers,” and the debate escalated much faster than Alliance v. Horde politics could ever.
Then we have @polominator veering sharply off, criticizing Blizzard for celebrating the work of someone from a warring country, saying, “Elune does not approve.” While here we have @IQWACP deciding it’s time to call Tyrande “boring” and “should have been written off years ago.” Bold take, though.
Mostly, everybody else was just hyped. @AVuthen called the cosplay “absolutely talented,” and @101Charm seemed to have said it all, with a simple “This goes so fing hard omg.” Fellow cosplayer @AlexWolfCosplay joined the hype, screaming “Yooooo Let’s goooo” because talent recognizes talent.
Given that, @CameronMcEwen8 won’t be forgiven for pitching for an animated series while at it. Honestly, after that cosplay, we so would watch it.
The whole conversation about art, fandom, and even geopolitics (??) was sparked by Blizzard’s tweet just getting a simple cosplay. Basically, it goes on and on as to how these games, like World of Warcraft, inspire people to actualize awe-inspiring works. Whether you came here for the drama or just to gawk at the insanely good @vira_nailovna works, one thing is for sure: Tyrande is still alive.
Now, if you’d excuse us, we’ll be staring at these photos for the ensuing half hour.
