Blizzard Entertainment just turned into a major presser-on-the-civil-thought experiment that totally cantered into a breaking thermonuclear meltdown on the Twitter. And the tweet goes as: “Pick your seat, and tell us why 💬✈️,” along with an image of a plane seat layout numbered 1 through 10, all seats taken up by a different Blizzard character. The clamour for reasons, as one may expect, was much too chaotic.
Suppose I talked about the characters. There are absolute crazies, man. You have Kerrigan from StarCraft, Sylvanas and Jaina from World of-Warcraft, Lucio from Overwatch, and even Deckard Cain from Diablo. And of course, you got your Junkrat sitting there too. The Alpaca was off to the races, with players arguing about whom they’d want sitting next to them on an interminable graveyard of a plane trip.
Some of the options should just be given away for free. I mean, really? Sitting next to Lucio (seat 5) all chill vibes and beats through the trip? In all due respect, the player @enseecan said, “I’d sit at 5 cuz you know Lucio’s vibe would fire. Let’s drop the beat.” Other options were just there for watching the drama unfold. @Levioloneux put down “Between the Mother and the Queen, for once the choice is simple😈👑💜.” Yep. Got you, Sylvanas stans.
One corner full of chaotic energy is seat 10 with Reinhardt and Torbjörn on post. @KenzieDIB nailed it: “#10 would have such dad vibes.” But @Xeiggerott warned, “10 is gonna be the loudest place on the plane.” Too accurate. Those two would probably be arguing about armor maintenance or something in the middle of the flight.
Others were just simply not amused. @goatasta7 wondered, “No dva or Juno 🙂↔️.” And @Maljinwo1 outrightly said he’d go for another-forked plane with Vol’jin. Fair.
The most wholesome one? That should be seat 7 — all Deckard Cain has to offer, really. @Gnaker1865 elaborated: “The only right answer is 7. Because I’m definitely staying a long while, and listening. Seriously, the man would have fantastic stories!” Stay awhile and listen.
Then there’s that kind of weird desperation from a certain kind of player. Throwing herself at seat 10 was @DEMONCAKES1: “I’m a wore in practice and I wanna see what I can do to my 2 biggest gaming lusts 😐…🫥💨.” Uh. Right then.
One of the crazier scenarios unleashed was a 15-hour argument as to why Jaina should defend the Purging of Stratholme by @RainthRainth. Why not?
There was not much context given by the tweet from Blizzard: No game announcement, no hint of an event release, just a little bit of “what if”? But really, that was all the context one needed. Indeed, gamers love being part of such interactions, and their fangirl-fanboy-type response is the proof. There is a seat for lore, one for chaos, and one for vibes.
What about you? Me? That’s a dead tie between Lucio vibes and Deckard storytelling. But really, avoiding Junkrat’s pure destructive force is going to be the biggest challenge.
