Marvel Rivals has just released a hype trailer for Blade’s new Polarity Edge costume with gamers on fire, but some didn’t appear to react well to it. It leaked that the look would drop on August 8; some admire the design, while others are shouting about some drastic changes to gameplay. That dichotomy of the gaming scene, huh?
Let’s start with the drip. Raw vamp energy is dripping out of Blade’s new skin, and it’s fair to say the Sword of Dracula could slice into the very fabric of reality. That tweet is giving some serious style: “Born ready and deadly.” And yes, the look? Fire. Like Phoenix Fire. That costume channels this chaotic life-void energy, practically making Blade look like he’s about to put Hela and Knull out of commission. The battlefield is his stage, and the trailer has set the players abuzz with a call to “give enemies their last dance”.
Right, so with all the attention on Blade’s new look, the very replies are filled with complaints. Players aren’t just talking about the skin. Nope. They are talking about everything flimsy: balancing characters, party size limits. One player, @WillyBeamin__, just lost it: “Nerf Strategist, they are over-tuned and ruining the game!” Meanwhile, @BatZach88 pleaded to the devs: “Please don’t add the party size limit, ruins the main reason people play this game.” Oof.
More drama follows. That includes some gamers locked in heated discussions about character viability. @Bottomfr4gg3r felt Blade’s kit was lacking, explaining in his Twitter reply to @ximenawitch: “His ultimate only lasts 8 seconds and he can be killed through it.” @ximenawitch fired back with “Sue clears Loki,” meaning Marvel Rivals‘ meta and Twitter replies offer equally stormy climates. Then, Luna-stans-and-haters mark the grounds with exchanges—some call her easy to kill, and others want her nerfed. Pure chaos.
Then there was the blast against the voice acting: @FaithirlMedia just was not feeling Blade’s new voice lines and compared it to Newcastle from Apex Legends: “Why the fuck would y’all give him Newcastle’s voice? It should’ve been more masculine.” I guess the devs really can’t win.
Still, a portion of the community was staying away from the negativity-pit. One of them being @Laetrx, who deemed the statement “PEAK GAMING IS COMING.” They joined @sawsaywakiki in throwing in the towel: “There goes any chance I had at not buying this skin 😭 why do they always cook so damn hard?”
So yeah, looks like Marvel Rivals Season 3 will be one hell of a ride. Blade’s Polarity Edge is, for sure, sick; now, the real question is: will the players be able to enjoy it with all that bickering? Either way, August 8 is going down in history.
