The Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 pre-release beta went live on October 2nd, but, plagued with issues, the beta, instead of early access, has been a series of bans for fun. There has been a huge sigh of disappointment; from taking the pre-orders for the beta-code issuance, the beta has been plagued with hideous error pop-ups and crashes, greatly diminishing the sweetened anticipation for this testing period.
An official tweet announcing the beta launch and urging players to “grind CODBeta” and gain rewards from October 2nd was also released from @CallofDuty. Yet, judging from the comments, the days after the launch of the beta? The beta was presumably launched, but the actual players had never gotten lottery access, apparently. Somehow, the comment section has become a battleground filled with screams of people complaining that they will not be given entrance. Hilarious, truly embarrassing for a big franchise name like COD.
A player that said, @ibeCiLo: Got my beta code yesterday, but no go from playing. Tried to redeem the code again, it says code has already been redeemed?? Like what?? I reinstalled it, even with a fresh reboot. So much frustration when your hyped to try out the Black Ops.
@2wos_ somehow got enabled beyond the initial block by joining a friend in Black Ops 6, but he is still having issues wit the BO7 beta even though they pre-ordered and have a code. It’s like the game is trying to harm itself. Another player who goes by @DarkLordSoul literally said, “man fix your game i got the code and it still saying preorder for bo7,” which is just… oof.”
And @josiasblanco80 says his game keeps crashing in Gamepass shortly after a match timer starts. Can’t even get into a game?? Then @JE3JSY just says, “It doesn’t let me load into the beta??” Way too many people are experiencing this just-in-time experience.
The ones who got in complain: @SeanB859 claimed graphics were “sorely outdated on ps5” and gameplay felt worse than Black Ops 6. Then they said, “I couldn’t give a shit who wins but battlefield sure looks and feels better this year.” Oof.
@impullssss went on to label it “the biggest piece of dogshit you guys ever put out jesus,” which… OK then. No holding back.
Though to be fair, not everyone hated it when they actually got to play. Some positives were spoken by @TheDK2025, mentioning smooth game fluid movement and guns that feel good and balanced. He too gave some crashing issues and called it a sweat fest asking Treyarch to dial down SBMM.
Speaking of SBMM, @CamTait24 just flat-out demanded, “REMOVE SBMM AND DISBANDING LOBBIES,” which appears to be a common complaint in recent COD outings. Players really don’t like how matchmaking works these days.
Some potential fixes had been thrown around. @streetvendrdrgs and @AlphaPley thought setting the region to Asia on Battle.net might help? @Gijom_ was explaining that you need to click the globe icon on Battle.net and set the region to Asia. But @CommonSenseably responded with, “Nope, still not working. This is false,” so maybe that fix doesn’t work for everybody.
It’s a mess of tangled issues right now. @wSindraa pre-ordered the vault edition, yet still cannot get in; @NateHarvey03 asked for a new code since theirs isn’t working, and @JonRee4 redeemed their code on Steam but the game isn’t even showing in their library. How does this even happen??
Comparisons with other games were already being thrown around by some players. @AyushRLgaming said, “I’ll be too busy with these 2 games lol,” followed by an image of them playing some other games. @Shonuffgamingyt, who dubbed himself a “gaming elder,” said COD should drop trying to play both sides and just go all out for the younger crowd because they’ve given up hope on COD turning into what they want again.
One of the weirdest comments would have to be from @JetJay35, who said, “You get to choose to play as a butch lesbian with cornrows or a Down syndrome Iranian lady,” which, yeah…what?
The Black Ops 7 beta launch has been…problematic, to say the least. Access troubles, crashing issues, and mixed reactions from those who could actually play made this a pretty crappy first impression that Treyarch and Activision were hoping for. The amount of anger pouring out of the players is felt, and for a beta, which is supposed to be a rather sizable test period before full release, these issues simply have to be fixed if they want useful feedback and satisfied customers immediately.
And talking about why big game launches need proper beta testing and server stability, take this example. Coming in promising early access and never delivering it creates such a mountain of bad will in the community. And thanks to the witty reviews that crowned Battlefield as the better-looking shot this year by some, COD has to make a technical comeback. So, fingers crossed it’ll get resolved before the full game comes out because Black Ops 7 certainly isn’t making any positive impressions right now.
