Battlefield VI is basically an eruption of molten lava on Twitter from PlayStation as some initial information was leaked. Players have been losing their minds with excitement. The big reveal? Escalation-a new mode with big maps, vehicular mayhem, and buildings that pretty much don’t stand a chance in the face of destruction.

The tweet was very straightforward, talking about some hands-on time with the Escalation mode, with all those big maps full of vehicles and destructible environments, ending on a click-to-know-more link. Hells, though, the real juicy content is in the responses. That’s where the community starts getting loud.

From the very start, gamers are comparing it to Call of Duty, almost as if it is some kind of tradition. Carlos says, “Battlefield > Call of Duty,” same here, honestly. Then The Virtual Resistance hits with the cold, hard truth: “I’m waiting for Black Friday $29.99. I’m broke as hell and the beta was too CODy for me.” Oof. Felt that.

Hyperoptix gives some hope: “They address the ‘CODy’ feel after the beta ended, nerfed movement and a few other things. So full release should feel more like Battlefield.” So there may be some potential here? The developers listen to feedback? How about that.

The hype team might read Lucas and the alien emojis as “Man. This freaking game. 🥲🍿🍿💥,” with every single one of us going in endless loops watching the trailers. BigStepper adds his own: “This is cleeeaaannnn,” and I couldn’t have said it better. Though my favorite must come from the one questioning if you could dropshot with a tank. What? That is exactly the anarchy we want.

Destructible buildings: a big feature players are loving. PromptlyAI writes, “If it has highly destructible buildings, count me in,” while DoubleA adds: “Destructible building sounds cool, killing someone in the building.” Dark, but yeah, that’s the dream. Literally crushing your enemies under rubble? Sign me up.”

There’s confusion, of course. Then another one from DoubleA (busy day for them): “Never heard of the game battlefield Or isn’t it a game?” Bruh. How. But then you’ve got the classic “Wake me up when the BR drops.” from bigstrongjuicy because everybody’s waiting for that Battle Royale mode that’s been rumored forever.

Then comes the language barrier: ThomasFerrara tweets in French: “Cette map la y a trop de campeurs et de snipers 🤮 #Battlefield6,” meaning “This map has too many campers and snipers 🤮,” so, even with early looks, the sniper complaints are already flooding in. Some things never change.

Oh, and shoutout to the person who flat-out forgot they even pre-ordered the game. Mood. Then there’s the one asking about mic status in parties, as tim wants to know “Do the mics work for parties or still gotta use PlayStation party?” Valid question, really. Communication is key when you’re bringing down buildings.

It’s evident that said community has been split: one side too much hype and the other skepticism. Heavily invested are people like shadow.vfs who tell us all, “Can’t wait,” without a single word backing up their excitement. The others still want sales or just are holdouts due to their fears about the game feeling all too much like COD. But if you sum it all up? Hype. Curious. Ready for chaos.

Let’s just not ignore Carlos and his tier list: “My tier list: 1. Operation Flashpoint 2. Battlefield 3. CoD.” Putting Battlefield second to Operation Flashpoint? Bold move. Respect.

Enough were clinging to the destructible environment element-a hallmark of the Battlefield brand, and it never hurts to see this featured again as several titles seemed as though they lost that special sauce after some time. World-class big maps with vehicles. This is what Battlefield is all about. Noin’ small map shit.

Where does this leave us? Almost there for a return to form with League Escalation mode at the helm. Big maps, tons of vehicles, and buildings that go boom are what the players requested in the first place. On top of this, movement seems tweaked by devs to be at least less COD, so there is some hope it will really feel like a Battlefield game again.

Whether it lives up to the hype has become anyone’s guess. But with how these reactions look, the community is ready/finally willing to find out, whether it means waiting for a sale. Or remembering that they already bought that. Either way, escalate is on.
