It seems that players of Battlefield 6 are getting the new content earlier than expected since Season 1 is set to be released in October and will include two significant updates which will completely change the modern warfare experience with new maps, modes, and guns.
On Twitter, the official PlayStation account confirmed these details through a social media post, saying that the new operation Rogue Ops will start on October 28 and the operation California Resistance will be on November 18. People took to Twitter to share their reactions that could be best described very ambiguously as a mixture of excitement and total chaos.
More than anything else, it was the news from Battlefield that matters. The first season is being viewed by many as the franchise’s resurrection call. The game has been working hard to keep breaking the walls of the player base with the content updates that come just in time, after experiencing troubled launch times and the subsequent years that were far from rosy endings. “At last, new places to get killed in and not the same old ones,” sarcastically expressed a user named Mohammad Saleem Raza, where all the gamers who feel the same and are tired of the never-ending repeat of maps are no doubt all agreeing with him.
The two operations, Rogue Ops and California Resistance, hint at the return of typical Battlefield-style conflicts. The operation Rogue Ops may involve special force-like operations while the California Resistance might depict urban warfare in West Coast areas. One player, Roven OP, said that the first season is “already looking 🔥” and he can’t wait to see what Rogue Ops will bring to the battlefield.
The timing factor, which is interesting, being the case here. Just like all other Battlefield titles that at times made online gaming enthusiasts wait for months before they could get a decent post-launch content, Battlefield 6 is not only going through but also running the line. “I love not having to wait 6+ months for a season to start after launch,” David Rodriguez stated, he was expressing what most of the community members think about the updated content timeline.
However, there was positivity in the replies and it was not the only thing happening. The player’s comments soon turned into… let’s just call it internet drama. User AvielIgnis went all out with the rant saying that homosexuality is a “demonic sin” and another guy replied with insults. It looked like a fight between two people having completely different conversations that were not related to gaming at all. At times, one really has to wonder where these commentators are coming from, I mean it sincerely.
Legitimate concerns voiced by gamers were also heard amid the noise. User pixelluma was totally excited about the new maps but wished that the server problems would be fixed first, which is often the case in online shooting games. Another user raised a question about the lack of a Battle Pass, which has become the standard in live service games; there should be no mention of it if that is the case.
Support class players have also been excited. “Where are my Support players? Go for those revives and resupplies!” Tyler Rader shouted, which signifies that there are some who are aiming to complete the objectives while others are just going for kills. It is actually good to see that teamwork still prevails in the game.
The number of comments referring to this as the “comeback season” of Battlefield was really surprising. User XFunkeda just wrote “Battlefield come back szn!” while MarAndSviet asked whether Battlefield could “finally win back its own battlefield.” It is quite obvious that the franchise has the potential to turn around after the recent disappointing releases.
And so, Call of Duty fans have also taken notice. User Louisesmiles_ said that they “might start this instead of COD,” which indicates the new shooter has a tough competition with the other one. When one shooter steals the gamers of its rival, it is clear that it is following the right policy.
The community appears to be the most excited about the California Resistance update. It could be that the combat in the urban American middle is getting more intense in the Battlefield games. TheAntiHero_J especially stated that he can’t wait for Cali Resistance, although we have no information yet about what that operation will consist of.
With everything from sins to YouTube channel bans and the season one announcement being discussed in a not-so-serious manner, Battlefield 6 has surely become a point of interest. The developers will likely consider the content delivery timing more seriously. If they can provide engaging new maps and modes along with dependable servers, then this will indeed be the long-awaited resurrection of the Battlefield lovers.
As one comment summed it up nicely: “Season 1 is embracing the classic Battlefield chaos.” And that is indeed the very essence of what we all are waiting for—the beautiful and unpredictable chaos that only Battlefield can provide! Let’s hope that the actual gameplay does not disappoint come October and keep our fingers crossed.
Xbox players are also eagerly awaiting these updates.
