Battlefield 6 Open Beta is still in full swing, with PlayStation throwing in some nice perks for the free-for-all before it closes, which was initially slated to close soon. It has been extended until the 17th of August, giving gamers who were on the fence until now another few days of entertaining anarchy before full release. And if you’re PlayStation Plus, then 2XP await you, with an exclusive soldier skin locked behind the subscription.

But, of course, there are people who would rather sit on the other side of the fence. The responses to PlayStation’s announcement tweet were, uh, let’s say, spicy. Some called the skin “lame,” while some went on to say that Battlefield “isn’t Fortnite” and should, therefore, not be handing out cosmetics like candy. Then, @TonysForbiddens had a pretty solid response to another user: “Battlefield hasn’t been one for doing many skins it’s not fing Fortnite.” Oof.

Then, of course, the console battles began. @HardassChicken had a bright idea: make the skins platform-exclusive, blue for PlayStation, and green for Xbox, which honestly sounds pretty cool, but knowing this bunch, it would just cast fuel on the fire. @Coldfearx went after PC peasants: “You enjoy free online, while we enjoy cheater-free games (BF6 PC beta already had a cheater day one lmao).” Brutal.

At least there are people who are still looking forward to it: @gamedofficial_ said, “love that weekends :)”-a fairly rare kind response in all of the saltiness. Then again, @OGBluee thought that double XP was “pointless,” while @MrTuffster had complaints about spawn kills and “trash” movement. The Battlefield community… a bit too familiar with those sorts of complaints.

The beta has its mixed reviews; some say “super sweaty” (@dallas4psn), while others are just genuinely glad to get the game at all. Now, should you still be undecided, you have more days in front of you to decide if this is the Battlefield you’ve been waiting for, or maybe it’s one more excuse to keep playing something else.

Now, what textually can be sure of is that people are talking about Battlefield 6. Well, in the gaming world, that’s half the battle. Let the full chaos welcome!
