Yep, same scenario: last month’s hardware lamenting for Battlefield 6, because the ’Do not share’ stamp is no longer found in gaming literature. This time, it’s a new gameplay clip allegedly taken from Mirak Valley being marketed as the biggest map in the game. The footage was released by BF Labs and picked up by CharlieINTEL, and the reactions really are quite something.

The clip starts off with a few wide open spaces, lots of hills made of rock, and what looks like a mini world to explore. But the players wasted no time whipping out their reviewing scissors. Strafe, for one, felt the need to voice, ‘This shit looks so ass.’ That, of course, is a pretty solid way to burn a bridge to customers. But Strafe was far from the only one with a negative opinion. Operation Overlord felt compelled to let everyone know, ‘If this is one of the biggest maps in the game, we are in serious trouble.’ So, as some people put it, the vibe was definitely not chill.

That said, there is another side to this as well. Some players are actually defending the size. Hawktuahmaton mentions that the playable area is around 600×500 meters, which is similar to maps like Caspian Border and Hamada from older titles. So maybe it isn’t as small as some are making it out to be? It is difficult to tell with just a short clip, but this debate is definitely heating up.

Naturally, the classic battlefield vs call of duty war had to emerge. DiscoBearYeahh retreated to his keyboard, stating that the leak would spark more interest in Black Ops 7. This, okay, sure. But tons of people came out to BBQ him. Timmy Trooner said, ‘Who exactly cares about BO7? Even the most braindead Treyarch fanboys are hopping to BF6 as it’s basically what COD should’ve been in the last 5 years.’ So that’s a take.

There’s also some concern about the design beyond just the size. User 1Egrassa mentioned that the map might funnel players into specific points because of how the HQs are placed, which could limit the freedom that battlefield is known for. Another player, turkishpies, mentioned the lack of water and naval vehicles, a pretty significant omission for a franchise known to have some epic naval battles.

My concern was centered on the Mirak Valley map from the recent clip leak. When reviewing the Mirak map, I took a detour, as much as I like to take breaks, gamers tend to speculate a lot, and when this kind of footage drops even if it’s not official there is always some speculation that comes with it.

To elaborate on what I said earlier, that sums up how footage leaks tend to be. Some people view this as a return to form while others view this as ‘CoD with tanks’ as sHuRuLuNi put it. Then, everyone tends to compare it with the older games, such as Bad Company 2’s Laguna Presa, which was 2.5 kilometers long, so yeah the bar is set pretty high.

One of the reasons I am concerned with how people are responding to the Mirak Valley map is because it’s mostly just a leak and the footage might be a small portion of the final product and we don’t know what other maps could be in the game. Regardless of how the reactions are, they fuel the interest. Every single detail is being scrutinized as Battlefield 6 is a major release.

I guess it’s bound to happen, but I still insist on maintaining vigilance for more updates. Also, in a way, I propose exercising patience until the game is available for us to test it out, because this way, it will be either a masterpiece or a disaster, and it is better for us to not experience it. But doesn’t that take away the excitement?
