Meaning: At this time, you are using some of those information on the battle of Rocksteady. They are into making Batman and all the other Batman will unleash great revelations that the future will behold, no doubt about it!”
It appears that some rumors, job listings, and theorizing all point toward Rocksteady doing something Batman-related, and now here comes this job ad that seems to spill the bat-beans, confirming that it’s targeting current and future consoles! Hooly smokes!
HazzadorGamin, an established leaker, tweeted about this whole saga and the Internet went half-mad (bat?). There was, of course, excitement, leavened with a fair amount of confusion.
@Kaanelement was all in a tizzy, tweeting “Next gen? İsn’t ps5 is next gen what teh hell,” and @Kaanelement is right to wonder!! C’mon, I’m talking PS6?! Where is time flying while Uh…going after world crime?-Gotham?
Stuck in with the immediate response was @PPL0VER27 “@Kaanelement Last time I checked, we are halfway into the generation, so we are in the current gen.” But now next-gen is really throwing some knots into all of that! Lucius Fox, set him up!
Then in came the PC master race. @PonyTears11 was showing random stupidity in replies with “@NayaPro95 @SpeedGod_CDN @Gametrailzers Show that pc 👀” The entire PonyTears11/NayaPro95 exchange is console wars lavishness, where basically, one tells the other, “. . .my rig better than yours.” Classic.
But why cross-gen? To which @jaseph18 articulated: “@HazzadorGamin I thought we were done with cross-gen titles. No pandemic, no circuit shortage….” Some seemingly chose to say the heck with it; make games solely for new hardware.
Aaaah, cross-gen, such a bane. It essentially means more restrictions for the developers to keep up compatibility with the older tech to, in effect, hold back some of those latest features for PS5/Xbox Series X. The question’s been raised; the more players, the merrier!
By the way, what do you think about the cross-platform implications for design…? Are we possibly looking at an ambitious next-gen Batman game? Or something that will be squeezed into the old systems? My spidey-senses are tingling…yeah, wrong hero.
So put it this way: Rocksteady hasn’t formally confirmed anything yet, so consider all this with a lot of salt. Or maybe a whole shaker’s worth. But it’s more than just eyebrow-raising. And some steam in the hype engine. Choo-choo!
Will this new Batman game be teh Dark Knight Returns of video games? Or just another Dark Knight? We shall see! But the gaming community is ready to get back to Gotham, regardless of what gen their game is being played on.
