Ubisoft had just released Title Update 1.1.1 for Assassin’s Creed Paralysis, and it seems the players are trending toward the promised features in feudal Japan. The updates were available early this morning with quality-of-life changes such as the fast-forward option for time of day and unfogging the map. Plus, the update comes with a free legacy outfit that most veteran series players would recognize.
That legacy outfit was none other than Ezio Auditore’s robes from AC2. It is offered free through this community patch. Players had been clamoring for more legacy content, and, well, Ubisoft has come through; though social media comments expressed a mixed bag of reactions.
The announcement was made on Twitter via the official Assassin’s Creed account, triggering the community’s instant reaction: “Lets-goooooooo” and “This looks-so-good” could be seen alongside some questions, complaints, and a crazy rush for Shao Jun.
Yes, Shao Jun, the Chinese Assassin from Assassin’s Creed Chronicles, is seemingly the big fan favorite that players feel is getting short shrift. Several comments called out Ubisoft for not including her outfit. One user named Faka1313 basically asked, “Y’all wasting the chance to add Shao Jun outfit on purpose or what?” Whereas another commenter, TheButaPalacsinta, just said: “Did you forget Shao Jun exists?”
Yikes. Not all celebration, however, for some players are now dealing with technical issues. Silver0774 could not launch the game through Steam, after coming out and calling out in the community: “can anyone else in this comment section tell me if they can launch their game through steam after this update? Because I couldn’t at all.” Another user, Retr0☕, said the update wouldn’t begin on their PS5, leading to a brief back-and-forth on whether this was a console issue.
Then we have those who are all done with the game, who are now finally being blessed with these features: with a tweet from Ryan_Recon saying “of course this comes out after I get done completing it lol,” mood right there. Honestly, isn’t that always how it goes? You 100 percent a game and then two days later, bam, an update comes out that would’ve made the grind way easier for you.
Beyond the outfit and map stuff, the update appears to have ironed out any performance issues, with Dahl00 pointing out the 30fps lock in cutscenes before it had, “made me want to vomit,” yet now it finally unlocks cutscenes to 60fps. Better late than never, right? But, like… why did it take this long? Most people had already played through the story.
Then you have those that want more. Chill Guy queried, “New missions for Mirage when?” which, uh, same universe but different game, bro. And then Muzammil Parkar threw some shade: “How about making actually good characters which will be remembered for years but no we’ll bring back Ezio in every game because we’re too lazy.” Dang.
Still, it’s safe to say that this update, Title Update 1.1.1, is a step forward for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Skipping time and full map reveal being added is a huge deal for completionists and players wanting to just have more control over their experience. And let’s be honest—free Ezio gear never hurt anyone. It is a nod to the roots, a good fan service.
Ubisoft has been listening, at least partly. The patch was born from community feedback, and that is something. Even if it didn’t feature everything everybody asked for (I’m looking right at you, Shao Jun stans), it’s proof they do pay attention. Whether that will lead to more legacy outfits and more modes and even that classically fun hide and seek multiplayer mode from AC3 and AC4, is the next thing we need to hope for.
Until then, if you haven’t jumped back into a Shades game since launch, now might be a good time. The map’s all clear, day/night cycle is chocked full of features, and hey—you can actually go running in Feudal Japan feeling like a Renaissance guy. Not bad for a free update. Just maybe back up your save before installing, well, just in case.
