Respawn Entertainment is buzzing, having a major announcement for Apex Legends players who happen to own the Nintendo Switch 2. The official Twitter account of the game revealed that the battle royale is coming to the new console, together with a free Pathfinder skin for everyone who logs in before September 16. Everyone was glad and barking, and some others were… let´s say, it was a confusing cocktail of salt and bewildered chaos.
Good news first: Every Switch 2 position holder can now install Apex Legends free and secure the Pathfinder skin simply by entering the game. No catches; no battle passes—just free drip for the people’s favorite grappling robot. The vibe in the tweet was strong: “Your backpack is ready. Your battery is full. Your lobby? It’s now on Nintendo Switch 2.” Quite cute all by itself, but oh! The replies.
Some folks, on the contrary, were bouncing: “Excited for new platform reach! 🚀” stated @Gro3_, while @JohanRedknight waxed lyrical considering Switch 2 screen recording capabilities, him saying how he would have surely saved numerous wild clips, had that been possible even a little earlier. Then, @Hannamillerm_ entered the fray, commenting on Nintendo fans always seeming to win at crossover, first it was Smash, and now it is exclusive skins from Apex. They shot back jokingly: “Who’s even playing chill on that console?”
Confetti was not falling everywhere as usual suspects came in, making their peevish contributions. Some of these came from a valid standpoint, while others… maybe not so much. @ShowShowWayDoor kept it really short: “for fuck sake just do something about matchmaking,” and @Spear1711 described the Energy RE45 as “the most stupid decision [Respawn] ever made.” Beyond that, @ImMaldingRn was all dark and dramatic: “Hands down the worst dev team to ever create a game. Whoever thought of this shit was trolling.” Yikes.
Technical problems even arose in the replies with @AbhsolutelyIcy saying they couldn’t even spend money in the store on purpose—”guess im not spending 100$ since your store is bugged”; meanwhile, @EpicDrifterXO wanted to know if the Switch 1 version really got fixed now due to all the crashes of that game prior. And then @__xxxxxx3 just sent a screenshot of an error message with the words “I can’t play Apex.” Mood.
Confusion is the order of the day for the next cohort. @Expelleddux straight-up questioned, “Where? I only see the Switch 1 version,” while @pwatkins1999 stated impressions as to whether cross-play would allow Switch 1 and 2 players to squad together (there is no official word just yet, but it usually seems to be yes for consoles within the same family).
Amidst all the chaos in there, one thing emerges crystal clear: Apex Legends on the Switch 2 is? off, and Respawn is giving out freebies to soften it up. Whether it will be enough to drown out the complaints about matchmaking, bugs, and questionable weapon balances is another story for another day.
So, if you have a Switch 2 and are even remotely interested in Apex, it is now time. Go in and grab that Pathfinder skin before September 16. Maybe, just maybe, your journey will be far from the drama, long enough for you to enjoy it. Or, please, jump in and throw your own take into the pile. Chaos awaits, either way. 🔥
