Hold onto your warm mugs of cocoa as Amazon has released a barrage of information regarding the upcoming *God of War* live-action series! Quite frankly, it is just much. The show will officially adapt the games based on the Norse era: the father-and-son romp of Kratos and Atreus through the Nine Realms-heavy games (2018 *God of War* and *Ragnarök*). Of course, it is a matter of relief for everybody who suffered through intolerable video game adaptations: yes, the game director, Cory Barlog, is actively involved.

Now, the juicy bit: there is no chance that the filming could begin before 2026. So that leaves a minimum of two years before we will see Kratos throwing around the Leviathan Axe across the screen. Execution of the script is roughly beginning, but more importantly, Amazon has greenlit two seasons immediately, with the first season having 10 episodes. The show promises to uphold the tone “emulating the game”: a funny history gamers have heard before (*cough*Halo*cough*).

And now, the *real* drama: the replies. Oh boy. Players are split. A lot of folks are thrilled even if some are calling it “woke garbage” (eyeroll), and *many* […are] upset for getting bypassed the Greek era (the one games that *made* Kratos a legend). @VanquishAZ was pretty blunt, “They need to do the Greek Era first. Show his brutality in all its gory glory before his transformation into caring father.” I honestly have to agree.

And casting rumors have begun swirling with Christopher Judge (actual voice actor for Kratos, which would be perfect), Pedro Pascal (because, of course), even Tom Hardy. And not all are optimistic. “@ra_buddy_69” just said it straight: “There’s no way they get the casting right on this,” which is a fair point considering America’s past.

The real kicker: @_ZB_22 had a field day when finding out that the show writer has not played the games. Yikes. This is…not a good sign. @_InMyRemains countered: “Good writing is all that matters, not being a good gamer,” and that’s a fair point. But maybe knowing the source material helps? Just a thought.

Let’s not even start with the elephant in the room. @Tahgarino asked, “Does anyone care about this? Just…why?” Oof. But hey, there are some folks already excited for those flashbacks from @Kalopu.

At the end of the day, it could make for an amazing storyline or could utterly fall flat. And with Cory Barlog attached, that’s a hopeful sign. But without the Greek era, a writer possibly not knowing the games, and a vehemence of time itself waiting to slip by, there is every right to be suspicious coming from a gamer. Let’s hope Amazon does a good job of this-I mean, if they do not, the rage of Kratos will not be lone.
