Alienware just put up a tweet people are talking about. A picture of a very cool setup was posted, captioned: “You have 10 seconds 👇.” The comment thread is, of course, insane. Hundreds of gamers are writing down which game they would crush in a weekend if given the opportunity. And some of these answers, man.

Well, first the obvious ones- kids naming games that are really short. Like, Portal 1 has been brought up by quite a few. Yeah, that’s a good one. You could have gotten through Portal 1, maybe, in two hours, ordered some pizza, and chilled. Or somebody said they could beat Kung Fu for the NES in 10 minutes, and that’s probably true. These old-school games were different.

This would put you amongst the wild cards. Skyrim?? Bruhn, you can’t even beat Skyrim in a weekend unless you’re really skipping every single side quest and just beelining for the main story, and even then, you’d be looking at three weekends. I really dislike the answer saying, “I might be able to bash out Skyrim in a weekend if I skip all the unnecessary stuff,” because it really makes me ask, “What’s the point then? The fluff IS Skyrim!”

Honestly, Inside had a bit of shout-out with the Resident Evil 3 remake as well, considering it’s a pretty short game. Ninja Gaiden 2-if you’re a masochist. Any Uncharted game-if you put in the effort-you could probably marathon through one day. Beyond Good and Evil-showing respect for a deep cut.

And from there, it went shaky. Five Nights At Freddy’s? Do not defeat that in a weekend; it’s more of a five nights jump scare. Mafia 1 or 2-I thought those were decent length games? Kingdom Hearts 2-Now you’re just showing off. Dark Souls 2-Are you really trying to give yourself a heart attack?

GTA San Andreas-bruh, that game needs a minimum of 30 hours. Metal Gear Solid 4-cutscene vigilantism and essentially a movie marathon. Legend of Dragoon-thats a 40-hour JRPG, you okay? Tomb Raider or Lies of P-two games completely different from each other, but okay.

Battlefield 6-It’s not releasing yet, man. Arkham City-That is doable if you just mainline the story. Sonic Adventure 2-Chaos chaos chaos. Ghost of Tsushima or Black Myth Wukong-That one exists, that one doesn’t, but sure. Jade Empire or Ninja Gaigen Black-Now, that was a long time ago.

Spyro’s Adventure for Skylanders-Really? Far Cry 4-“Just stand AFK for some minutes and you won” okay that’s actually hilarious. Full Throttle-Classic, respect. Path of Exile campaign-It’s like saying you’ll run a marathon in the weekend. Zelda Link to the Past-Actually, yeah, that’s reasonable.

Sons of the Forest-Survival games aren’t really about “beating” them, but okay. Clock Tower-“Would go straight for the worst ending,” that’s some big brain energy right there. Minecraft-“Extremely generous estimate” of six hours, yeah, right. “I want to enjoy them” – mood, honestly.

Elden Ring or Dark Souls 1-Either you’re Going Up or You’re Lying. Dead Space 2-Actually, yes. That’s a great weekend game. Dying Light 1 or The Darkside Detective-That combo would be something. INSIDE-Short and sweet. Perfect.

There’s an entire thread as to Knights of the Old Republic and Light Side v Dark Side runs, which like, that game takes more than a weekend, but whatever. ENDER LILIES is a solid mention for metroidvania.

And the craziest part is how many different games people were listing. It’s sort of an all-in-one snapshot of gaming history. From NES classics to games not even out yet. And everyone is so confident about their picks like, “Oh yeah, I could totally do that, no problem.”

But could they really? Beating any game over a weekend practically equals no-life-ing it. Order food delivery, cancel all plans, very minimal sleep-if any. There is a commitment to it. And for the longer ones, it’s nothing short of an impossibility unless they’ve done speedrunning.

The interesting thing is: apart from the games people would finish in a weekend there are those games that people agree are just too big. Nobody’s saying who’d knock Baldur’s Gate 3 out in a weekend because that’s just insane. And then Skyrim? Apparently, some think that’s doable.

Another good thing about it is the variety of games-RPGs, Shooters, Platformers, Survival, Horror, Puzzle, all. It’s like a best-of list of games people actually enjoy enough to marathon or ones that are short enough to knock out really quickly.

All that really speaks about how diverse taste in games really are and how differently people articulate the term weekend game. For some, it’s about the length, others about replay value, and some about picking their favorite game irrespective of time.

Honestly, this tweet got more engagement than most game announcements these days. People love debating what they would do if given the chance. And now that a free weekend opportunity comes with a sick Alienware setup, everybody has an answer.

What would you pick? Me personally? Something like Portal 2, probably, or maybe a short JRPG, like Chrono Trigger. But, by no means, Skyrim. Never, ever Skyrim. That way lies madness.

Anyway, the moral of the story is: Gamers have wildly different opinions regarding what constitutes a weekend game, and some of them are definitely overestimating themselves. But it’s lovely to entertain that thought. So full credit for Alienware for getting everybody talking.

If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to check if I can really get through Resident Evil 3 remake this weekend. Wish me luck.
