Here we go: Yet another big news update in the ever-growing Star Wars Universe. As recently announced on Twitter, filming of Ahsoka Season 2 has been wrapped up, with a release set for 2026 on Disney+. Yes, you read it correctly- 2026. Two whole years from now. WTF is going on? Are they shooting the show in outer space?
The announcement came from the cosmic_marvel Twitter handle, with only the bare minimum of information- filming done, 2026 release. Just read the replies, and the story changes. It’s a very divisive subject; half of the fandom is highly excited about it, while the other half has knives out already.
Let’s give you a quick run-through. For all those outsiders, Ahsoka Tano was first introduced during Clone Wars and has grown to be a very popular character. Rosario Dawson plays the live-action version of the role, who is basically a badass ex-Jedi who has seen stuff. Season 1 ends with Ahsoka and Sabine travelling to another galaxy to track down Ezra Bridger, presenting various opportunities for season 2.
But see how things start to get trickier in the replies? Some people are genuinely excited. Stakit_live said bluntly, “We are HYPED,” which is drenched in unmitigated enthusiasm. Jacobweyker wrote, “Can’t wait for this season,” and wrestleroller hopes, “we get to see more Anakin,” which makes sense, as a return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker is one of the highlights from season 1.
Further down, DarthSpyro_ weighed in from a lore-interest perspective, stating, “I genuinely can’t wait to see how they use Anakin and the Mortis gods.” For those not completely lost down the Star Wars rabbit hole, the Mortis gods are this trippy force-wielder thing from Clone Wars that can make for wild television if done right.
Then scroll a little down and oh boy. The criticism is… Compelling! That running joke about Ahsoka crossing her arms came up time and again. PricePrimeCos wrote, “Oh boy, I can’t wait to watch Ahsoka cross her arms and stare blankly while pausing every sentence,” to which, PaulicusMaximus answered, “I hope they cross their arms more in the second season,” which sounds like sarcasm, but who can tell anymore?
Some of the responses go downright hostile. antiwokegameruk states, “We never wanted this.” Jakes0nville snaps, “I can’t wait to laugh at it,” which might be a mood, I suppose. BrewerBobb decided to go all the way by asking, “Who are they making these for? The 2% feminists that hate watch it anyway and scream about the patriarchy?” It feels like they’re bringing some baggage to the Star Wars discussion that might not entirely belong there, but hey, that’s the internet for you.
Then there’s Nicholasl10, who took a jag at the haters: “Those who wished for ahsoka to be cancelled well you people have lost,” a quite definitive victory lap for Team Ahsoka. And BadGhostTv ominously declares, “They are going to bring every main character in to destroy them good,” which could be read as either excitement or apprehension depending on one’s point of view.
What’s genuinely interesting here is how personal this has become. Like, this isn’t even about a television show anymore — people genuinely hold some emotional investment in whether this is a success or a failure. Sadistik_1 is ready for: “I got my lightsabers and Mandalorian helmet on standby,” and such dedication is something we must respect.
Now this 2026 release announcement is weird. That’s a long, long wait for any show that has already completed filming. Can postproduction possibly take two whole years? Are these fully CGI worlds? Re-shoot everything? Are they waiting on some desired release window? Those are one of those Hollywood mysteries that nobody ever really seems to address.
ScooterMcNut posited a quite interesting theory: “They going to go back to their galaxy this season. I can’t wait for the memes…”- hinting that we might see some of the familiar locations and characters return to the main Star Wars galaxy. That can be huge for integrating this series into the larger Mandoverse, which, at least in theory, is leading to some major crossover film.
And, at the end of the day, hate it or love it, Ahsoka Season 2 will be coming. With filming wrapped, the actors are all home with nothing else to do until 2026-that is one long wait in Internet-time-so get ready for 12-hour movies and heated debates.
It’s Star-Wars-y business; such things would divide people but somehow never halt. Whether you’re team “hyped” or team “hate-watching,” or somewhere in between, 2026 will be interesting times for Disney+ subscribers. Might as well start practicing your arm-crossing in the mirror.
