According to a new video game rating that has popped up online, a new Mortal Kombat collection is coming to consoles and PC very soon. The Pan European Game Information rating system, more commonly known as PEGI, has released a rating for a title called Mortal Kombat Kollection Online.

The rating can be found in the official PEGI database by simply searching their website for the title. As you would expect, the project is rated 18, the UK equivalent of the US “Mature” rating. According to the post, Mortal Kombat Kollection Online is “the original Mortal Kombat trilogy,” presented in a way that “MK fans always wanted.”

The package will have upgraded art, improved gameplay features, and brand-new online capabilities. It also appears that the remaster will be available on all of the major platforms, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

It seems that the new collection is the same one that Warner Bros. themselves shelved earlier last year. A company by the name of Blind Squirrel Games had been attached to a remastered version of the original trilogy of Mortal Kombat games, and the project was even backed by Ed Boon. Unfortunately, it seems that Warner Bros. were not too keen on letting a largely unknown studio handle such a massive project.

Reports stated that Warner Bros. dropped the project before it could even get started, citing the development studio’s “lack of completed games” as a reason not to hand them the Mortal Kombat franchise to work with. However, Blind Squirrel Games has worked on a number of major titles in some capacity, including Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, and XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

The Mortal Kombat franchise has seen a huge burst in popularity since the series was revitalized with the ninth game in the series, 2011’s Mortal Kombat. Since then, the franchise has once again been going strong, with several new releases and a massive amount of DLC characters. Most recently, NetherRealm Studios showed off the first gameplay trailer for Joker, who will be coming to Mortal Kombat 11 in just about a week’s time.

The franchise is also going back to the world of film, with a brand-new live-action movie in the works that has just finished shooting. There is also an animated movie based on the character Scorpion coming out soon, titled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge.

Of course, neither Warner Bros. nor NetherRealm have officially announced that Mortal Kombat trilogy remake, but the evidence of it existing is pretty strong, so perhaps we’ll hear more very soon.
