Alienware pretty much went with that teasing method gamers know and love. They just dropped a tweet, basically screaming that it is high time for people to get a new setup, and attached an image of a gorgeous PC. And, obviously, the reply section went mad. Gamers were begging for free stuff, flexing their rigs, or just straight-up saying “I’m broke.” Classic internet vibe.
But for the sake of remembering, Alienware tweeted the picture of an interesting set-up with the phrase “This is your sign to upgrade your setup ❄️.” No specs. No price. Just vibes. And a few gamers took that personally. Responses just kept coming: from “How many likes for a free laptop?” to “First, I need the money 😩.” Either way, the struggle.
But they didn’t leave the audience hanging—Alienware actually did some comment stalking and dropped some sweet info about their Area-51 desktop (which, by the way, can be configured with a 5090 GPU… yes, that’s kind of a thing) and the Aurora desktops if you want a little power in a smaller package… And shout out to their Area-51 laptop for content creation built for heavy-duty editing that won’t choke on 4K renders.”
Then again, the Anon gamers weren’t really about to precipitate the sale, some already hitting the classic, “cool, but my wallet says no,” while others flat out asked to get sponsored (FakeUni casting those 230K subs…). Then you had those hopefuls promising to upgrade if they bagged the giveaway. Mood.
Yet another sweet kind of entertainment issued straight from the borderline insane. Someone actually offered to trade his two Alienware setups for the new one (balled), while another declared the company was neglecting military contracts (???). Twitter still undefeated in random highlight.
So, what we take from all this? Alienware conveniently reminds the gamers out there that, yes, their setups could be cooler. But unless you have a few spare Gs lying around (or a viral tweet that convinces them to hook you up), that upgrade is going to have to wait. Though in reality, if you truly can get one, that Area-51 and Aurora desktop looks like perfect buys—maybe start saving now.
Meanwhile, the gamers will go on daydreaming, begging, and occasionally throwing a diss back at Alienware in the replies. You know how the internet does, and honestly, we’re not complaining.
So, if you are truly drowning in the misery of your older GTX 1060 laptop (shout-out from NFSFan199), this might very well be your sign. Or at least your sign to start a GoFundMe. Either way, the struggle continues. Happy gaming, or at least happy dreaming about gaming on a rig you can’t afford yet.
