A remastered Mass Effect trilogy is on the way and should release sometime this year…allegedly.

It’s one of the worst kept secrets in the history of gaming, with a number of insider reports and retailer leaks showing the existence of this game despite BioWare and EA’s refusal to make any kind of confirmation.

The title would collect Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3, along with all of its DLC content. The games would be remastered for modern consoles and it is heavily rumored that we could be getting it as soon as next month.

The game was originally rumored to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. We even saw this physically, when a number of overseas retailers accidentally released information on the game via their websites.

However, a recent insider report has claimed that when the game inevitably drops, it won’t be releasing on the Nintendo Switch after all.

Jeff Grubb, a game industry reporter and insider made this claim in a recent interview.

“EA has multiple games coming to Nintendo Switch and Mass Effect is definitely not one of them,” he said.

It was announced during the EA Play event in June that EA games such as Apex Legends would be coming to Nintendo Switch. But, if this report is to be believed, it appears as though Mass Effect is not going to be included on that list.

Of course, these statements should be taken with a pretty hefty grain of salt given that Grubb is not an official source for EA and is not associated with the company in any way.

Unfortunately, with EA remaining tight lipped about the existence of this project, let alone its inevitable release, the industry has been turning to non-official sources and leakers to get any kind of news on what should be one of the biggest RPG remasters of all time.

When the game was rumored to be releasing on the Switch, it excited many who couldn’t wait to be able to take the Mass Effect series on the go. Mass Effect has a long and storied history on both the PlayStation and Xbox. Nintendo would have been totally new ground for one of the most beloved sci-fi RPGs of all time.

Of course, we’re all just going to have to wait and see what BioWare and EA say about this, whenever it happens. Until then, even the game’s existence should be taken as a rumor.
