Blizzard’s latest build of Diablo 3 is rapidly approaching! To help test the new content, the developers are launching a PTR build for players to playtest and provide feedback with.

This PTR testing period will last for two weeks, beginning on May 21st and ending on June 4th. Testers should expect to encounter maintenances, outages, hotfixes, and patches as they proceed through the PTR.

To help with testing, Blizzard is applying an increase to the drop rate of Legendary items, as well as doubling Blood Shard drops. Additionally, testers can bring Blood Shards to Djank Mi’em on the PTR servers to receive class-specific bags of Legendary items that need testing.

“To ensure that the most significant changes receive an ample amount of attention, we’d love for you to focus testing and feedback on the new Demon Hunter and Necromancer sets, Necromancer Skill changes, and the Legendary item changes,” Blizzard writes. “So that we can efficiently review your posts, feedback should be provided in the PTR Feedback forum while bug reports should be provided in the PTR Bug Report Forum.

Blizzard also offers players a set of tips on how to make the most of testing. The PTR is only available for two weeks, and the priority here isn’t for players and playtesters to have a blast with new content but to provide feedback and polishing tips.

Because of this, Blizzard makes the following suggestions:

  • Playtesters should pick a specific focus to test rather than trying to see every possible addition – focus on your main class or main playstyle and look at how the changes have impacted it.
  • Stock up on items like the Bovine Bardiche and Puzzle Ring to help kickstart farming.
  • Purposely attempt to break things and strain the system, as every issue found is one that Blizzard can fix.
  • Provide feedback on the experience rather than a suggested solution, as the issue itself is the primary focus.

These changes are being applied to every platform that Diablo 3 is available on. This includes the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC versions.

However, the only players that will be able to participate in the PTR are PC and Mac users. Part of this is likely because the PC/Mac players far outnumber the console players, meaning that there are more playtesters available.

Players and playtesters only have two weeks to test the content, so be ready! The gates of playtesting open five days from now, so spend your time stocking up and getting ready to help the developers.
