Apex Legends Season 4 is well underway. Revenant has made his mark on the arena, and now it’s time for the next limited-time event. This one is System Override and features a brand new limited-time game mode, new event cosmetics, and the exclusive Octane Heirloom.
The short trailer also shows off the split between Season 4 World’s Edge and Season 4 King’s Canyon, as well as the brand new Evo shields. There are also skins for Gibraltar, Bangalore, Caustic, and more. Check out the trailer below.
First up, new skins. Highlighted are the Bangalore, Caustic and Gibraltar skins, although there are a few glances at a Lifeline skin, Crypto skin and Octane skin. They take on a futuristic look that fits in with the cyberpunk-ish theme of Revenant’s Season 4 of Apex Legends. This event will likely work in a similar way to previous Collection Events – buy all the items and unlock the heirloom
This time around its Octane who is the lucky legend. He picks up the newest heirloom in the form of a beautifully animated butterfly knife (you can see a clip at the end of the trailer.) Luckily, this looks like it will have some great animations as you run around the map, and if you’re an Octane Main and play a lot, this is probably perfect for you.
One of the biggest changes to gameplay coming during this event is the switchover from World’s Edge to King’s Canyon. It follows the pattern of the Season 4 ranked split, and players will be able to jump onto classic King’s Canyon, although it’s not clear yet whether any changes will have been made to the map.
Lastly, another intriguing addition is Evo Shields. When you pick these up at the start of the game you have one bar of a shield, which then upgrades over the course of the game as you do damage. The exact values of how much damage you need to do to level up the shield aren’t clear yet.
As there is a brand new shield level, a Red Shield, which appears to have 5 bars of shield health, hopefully, you need to deal significant damage to reach that value. Otherwise, this shield might become overpowered and frustrating to play against, as it’s claimed the shield is stronger than a gold shield.
The limited-time System Override Collection Event arrives March 3rd.
