Mortal Kombat 11 is quite possibly the best installment of this fighting franchise to date. It has everything you could ask for, from an amazing story with action-packed cinematic scenes to stellar moves and fatalities. The character roster also is as good as it has ever been. NetherRealm Studious really wanted to give fans something special as they wrapped up the story involving the time-controlling, ultra powerful Kronika.

It has also helped that NetherRealm Studios has done everything they can to add an amazing cast of DLC characters. We’ve been treated to Sindel, Shang Tsung, and Nightwolf. Now, fans are looking forward to the infamous Joker. He’s set to release on January 28, which is roughly a week away. In the meantime, the developer has taken it upon themselves to tease some of his moves in a recent gameplay trailer.

Before we get into his particular skills and moves, let’s first focus on his design. Overall, it’s not that bad. He’s sporting his infamous purple suit, slicked back green hair, and of course, red paint across his lips and cheeks. It’s exactly what you would want out of a Joker model. It’s also worth mentioning that the voice acting is really good.

A lot of games featuring iconic characters don’t always shoot for the stars in terms of voice acting. It’s a subtle touch that makes the Joker feel truly alive and worth checking out right away.

Now, let’s get into his moves. It’s first worth mentioning his cane. It seems to extend Joker’s attacks, which should make him a threat at varying distances from opponents. We also see the Joker use boxing gloves that extend for some heavy-duty blows across the stage. A lot of his moves seemed based off humor, which comes as know surprise considering the character we’re dealing with here.

There’s one point when the Joker pulls out a stuffed toy resembling Batman. These sort of humorous combos certainly bring a new tone to Mortal Kombat 11 that is interesting to see.

As far as his special attack, it’s quite brutal. It involves knives and the cane, which he uses to bash his opponent’s head in repeatedly as blood splatters the screen. The Joker then looks at the camera with a sinister smile. The developer certainly captured the Joker’s likeness and mannerisms perfectly. It should make fans all the more excited to see what he can do on January 28.
