Fortnite leakers and insiders have uncovered the fact that a new game mode is going to be revealed in 14 hours’ time, with rumors suggesting the new mode to be a Fall Guys-like Arcade Sports or Basketball experience. This poweful-crossing of games indicates that Epic Games is still following the same road of mixing genres and different properties in the always-growing Fortnite universe. A large number of players will probably be very active discussing within the Fortnite community the future and the attraction of such short-lived modes.
Alright, so essentially, hype HYPEX just dropped a bomb and the whole timeline is practically burning with expectance, right? New Fortnite mode reveal in 14 hours and already people are saying it has to be some Fall Guys Arcade Sports type thing, maybe even Basketball?? The picture attached is all colorful and has that zany, bean-like feel. But, oh my, the reading of the comments is like going through many different moods.
Some users like CallMeWhaaam and erayy555 are really supportive and even say things like, “Can’t wait for this announcement!” and “This will be a lot of fun!” which is very nice, it is like getting a little sunshine through the clouds of negativity. But if you scroll just a tiny bit more, bam, the negativity comes to you like a sniper shot from the top of Daily Bugle. “Dead on arrival,” says Synthalotl. “Least played game mode right here,” writes yuta___9690. And gaspastrike just goes directly to the throat with “This is going to be so dogshit and it will die off in 2 weeks.” Ouch, dude. That is very harsh but… perhaps not incorrect?
It is an odd situation of the community. Some gamers think that the frequent changing of game modes is a punishment for the careless addition of modes. RandomMimikyu asks, “genuinely why are they adding random bullshit?” and gameloverzXD is out here begging, “Why can’t Fortnite just stay true to itself?” Wait, what is Fortnite’s identity now? Is it still a battle royale? Or is it just a massive digital playground where one can do all sorts of activities from racing to rhythm games to… whatever this will be.
And what about the whole deal with Fall Guys? Smiccs asks a very valid and pointed question: “What is even the point of Fall Guys if they only add new content for it ON A DIFFERENT GAME.” That’s… actually a bit disheartening for Fall Guys fans, isn’t it? Like, the whole game’s universe gets swallowed up in the Fortnite world and now the cool new stuff might take place over there. Sounds quite weird.
The collab is hot pizza right out of the oven, as always, and everybody is eagerly waiting for it to get to their plate. DavianSnow_ bursts into the replies with a complete anime collaboration roadmap laid out like a press release – Solo Leveling, Frieren, Chainsaw Man… the list is quite long. Gwenni_bln is hoping for “higher detailed beans of skins” and collab beans and even naming Hatsune Miku and Godzilla. Honestly, a Miku bean skin would probably break the internet, so they might be onto something.
But the drama, the topic which has turned a section of the replies upside down, is a mode called “Delulu.” Many people are inquiring about its status or if this new thing is taking over its spot. “Boring where’s delulu2,” grumbles dirtywaterbot. “Are they swapping delulu for that trash?” asks _King_Hendo_. turdninj just wants to get clear: “Cool but what’s replacing Delulu?” It certainly seems that there is a whole different saga going on that we are not completely aware of. What even is Delulu? Was it that good? The hype is real.
Some replies are simply crazy and that’s what I love the most. Darkdavis4 says, “In this case, bring back the racist game mode because at least it was fun” and I have so many questions that I don’t think I want answered. NEXUZ goes off on an epic, all-caps rant comparing the new mode to a “tired disgruntled underpaid minimum wage employee.” It’s a vibe, really. A very specific, angry vibe.
Well then, what is the outcome of all this pre-announcement hype? That the Fortnite community is never ever one single group. For every player who can’t wait to jump and score points like a bean, there’s another one who sees it as a fast-fleeting entertainment that will be forgotten in a fortnight. It reflects the ongoing dilemma that Epic Games has been grappling with: to innovate and add new experiences that keep the game alive, while also risking the loss of players who just want the basics, classic Fortnite feel. Whether this Fall Guys Arcade mode will be a hit or not, the game continues to be a major platform on both PlayStation and Xbox.
