Epic has launched another skin from the Icon Series and it is Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop for its game Fortnite. The official Fortnite account via tweet with a link to the store simply stated ”Heart of a lion 𦔠and indeed, the skin is up for grabs for players who wish to purchase it at the moment. The situation has sparked great disappointment among the comedian, his community, and streaming, as it is yet another creator who is getting a permanent space in the battle royale.
The package is super chic and of course, the CouRageJD skin is part of the deal, but for many the back bling is the real showstopper. It is his pet who is a schnauzer named… the game refers to it as ‘Nico’ after CouRage’s own pup. That was a very heartwarming moment for many gamers as they read the comments. One user, EggIsHere__, was ecstatic but at the same time a bit downhearted, so he uploaded a picture of his own schnauzer and said, ‘I am glad they included his dog, but I was hoping to change the name to my dog’s name since I also have a schnauzer but it won’t let me š’. A few others like Emily shared this sentiment, claiming that the dog was just like her dog and she was upset that she couldn’t change the name so that her own Nico could be playing beside her. It is one of those little things that show how intimate these skins can become, you know?
Still, this is Fortnite Twitter, thus the discussion cannot be limited to one topic. Among the excitement usually were the so-called ‘community concerns’. Numerous replies switched topics right away to matchmaking. User Gblondie29 did not even mention the skin but instead went straight to ‘Fix your lobbies for Gods sake!!! Matchmaking is broken putting me in sweat lobbies when my KD is low!!!!’. MrLPowell was similarly inclined and questioned why they were playing against champion players while they were gold. This is the never-ending Fortnite loop: new content comes out, and a segment of players complaining about the gameās persistent problems makes their voices heard by the audience. Itās tough to say they donāt have a point.
Letās return to the skin conversations. Users were getting hints on styles in the meantime. Dan O, who bought the bundle for himself and his son, praised it but wanted to add: ‘Backling and pickaxe need noir styles tho.’ Later he tagged CouRageJD and informed him of his idea to get the dark gear for a ‘final boss noir’ look through the devs. This illustrates how much the players are really into these cosmetic combinations, they want the whole fairytale.
Talking about CouRage, he appeared in the replies but not for the skin’s specifics. He tagged the Fortnite Competitive account and said, ‘Hey Fortnite competitive I want to host another CouRage Clash can we please make it happen’. His supporters cheered him on with replies that included queries like begging him to cast on the main stage LAN or at the next Pro-Am. It is a pleasant surprise to see the creator directly interacting with the competitive scene as a result of his cosmetic release. It gives the impression that it is not merely a money-making scheme, you know? It is part of his entire connection to the game.
After a creator gets a skin, the question ‘Whoās next?’ naturally arises. User dubzaiden_ just inquired, ‘Hey, whatās up? Congrats! So when is @TypicalGamer getting his?’ It is that endless guessing game which keeps feeding the Fortnite community machine. Then, there were the hype comments. StonednBone told that they had bought the bundle with CouRageās creator code and that during their first game with the skins they got a victory royale, which is the greatest proof of all. Gators_Gaming gave the entirety of the bundle to one friend saying it was worth the V-Bucks. Mavrex820 even recounted a whole saga of unintentionally buying it without the creator code, using a return ticket, and then buying it again just to back CouRage because of the happiness he has brought him and his wife. That is some serious commitment!
But wait, what was I saying? Oh yes, the chaos. There were also the random requests like Andrew Enserro asking for Snow Miser and Heat Miser skins and jeomatrixx suggesting a Bruce Lee-style character as the game already has martial arts. And of course, the haters popped up with holymolyitsmid calling it “weak ass shit” and alizesta merely asking “who tf is that.” It is all part of the beautiful, chaotic tapestry of a Fortnite item shop tweet.
To conclude, CouRageJD is put in the Fortnite Icon Series pantheon officially. It is a robust package that undoubtedly has a lot of appeal for players on PlayStation and Xbox.
