The Fortnite Chapter Seven: Pacific Break, which has been eagerly awaited for a long time, is the official update that has just been activated and it is bringing along a new island, a new weapon collection and a very expensive Battle Pass. The Xbox announcement made the whole community feel they could be surfing and sunbathing in Mountain Gold, which is an ocean beach with all the right elements for surfing and the looks of a tropical paradise. The once again drastic seasonal change is nothing else than the previous alterations for the battle royale giant; this means the game is still in the content cycle, which is endless for the community and they keep guessing what is next.
The Golden Coast will be the first to greet players already in the PACIFIC BREAK that is finally revealed and players would probably soon start chatting about the different features of the new setup. Gamers cannot wait to visit the island’s beaches and forests to get their standing spots and, of course, uncover the secrets of Epic Games. Along with Drew and angelic Bat, a new batch of weapons and items are also coming plus that legendary “star-studded Battle Pass” which is a serious contender to be full of cosmetics and character skins that everyone would want to get through the weekly challenges.
This time, community feedback was, as often, mixed. Fortnite players are notoriously resistant to any single dominant opinion. On the one hand, there were also some ecstatic voices; one of them Pixel(!) who tweeted: “This is incredible! Let’s plunge into the tropical paradise and get the treasure unlocked. See everyone on the beach!” The joy is definitely infectious and it is precisely the type of thing that sustains the game. Corey’s Gaming Hub only winked with an “ok”, adding that “Chapter 7 is quite impressive,” which is the most optimistic or rather the least discouraging phrase among some gamers today.
But then again, there are critics who always get heard and they have spoken here too. AnEnragedWhale was very clear when he said that “the map is on point but the wave drop in method is pure trash” which is quite painful to read. Quite a harsh comment this one, however, giving credit where it’s due; those early moments of the battle or death may be the separator between the actual game or death. Another user Nick Wiederholt who was even more straightforward, posted “Open OG this new season is cheeks,” which is the modern gamer way of expressing dislike and disappointment. More specifically, it means they would rather have the original Fortnite map and gameplay back than this one.
However, it is amusing to see how the remarks of some people can completely overlook the Fortnite announcement and instead get lost in their own trip. A user who went “It’s Call of Duty,” which can easily be understood as a very funny case of mistaken identity and also the type of trolling that is appreciated by the community. Amid all this chaos, the incredible Gravemind was so absorbed in begging for “an arbiter skin, please” that it totally went on this Halo reference vein that seemed completely disconnected from the tropical Fortnite update but, hey, gamers will be the way they are supposed to be.
The discussion between Dethkl0kCOD and others about the old and new gameplay mechanics was simple yet very mesmerizing. Dethkl0kCOD was wondering “Fortnite never had a self-rez before? I’ve never played.” Someone else said it is like a “Reload where you respawn after every death but it’s not exactly like that” meaning the traditional battle royale mechanics. This very fact can be seen as an indication that Fortnite is always trying out new things and different modes and rules that sometimes confound the players whether they are old or new.
The pleading for the platforms has become more or less a ritual every time Xbox posts something on Twitter. MarcosA25664061 grabbed the opportunity and took the chance to ask, “Xbox, now that you have started releasing games on Ps5, can you please release some of your old games?” with a list of desired Xbox exclusives going PS that he would like to see just behind. On the other side, PhantomChunxx just asked, “Where is State of Decay 3?” as if every Xbox announcement was the right time to ask about releases of unrelated games.
The international nature of Fortnite’s diverse audience was made evident by Alan Esteves who wrote in Portuguese, “Fortnite fez um evento e tanto ontem”, which is a very close translation of “Fortnite did quite an event yesterday,” – possibly a major in-game event leading to this new chapter release. These worldwide events have developed into the signature of Fortnite’s seasonal shifts, creating moments that the players will talk about for weeks afterwards.
The mention of the “star-studded Battle Pass” implies that there is going to be some major celebrity or influencer collaboration, which is something that has become a Fortnite tradition.
