The December PlayStation release schedule is quite a surprise and a statement that holiday shopping will not be necessary as everyone will be busy playing games. Quite frankly, the release of a new game will happen almost daily from December first to twelfth. A considerable list of new products is the result of Marvel’s big bang, the re-imagination of a classic western, and even a flight simulator that has come to console dominance. This is a month when you really need to be careful or else your wallet might start to weep.
Which games exactly will be released? Let us just decompose it quickly. The entire process kicks off on December 1st with the Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Then on the 2nd, the long-awaited release of Red Dead Redemption on PS5 will finally take place. Let It Die: Inferno gets released on the 3rd, and Blood: Refreshed Supply comes out on the 4th, sharing that date with the launch of Octopath Traveler 0. On the 8th of December, the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator and Skate Story is a big event in gaming. Unbeatable will be released on the 9th, and Terminator 2D: No Fate is closing the month of new releases on December 12th. All the titles listed are just the beginning, Wow!
As it could be expected, the news got mixed reactions. There were some people who were really excited. User Bitcorn2008 very nicely summed it up by just saying, “We’re eating good amirite 😋”. Nexa Cards just commented, “Busy December ahead!” and that is indeed an understatement. Meanwhile, the upcoming releases are drawing the strongest hype around them. OG MAGAZINE is “hyped for Skate Story” and AethericaX has already expressed his enthusiasm with “Ooo Octopath Traveler ⚔️💜”. So, it is quite evident that there will be a demand to be satisfied.
But, with every major announcement, some puzzles and doubts always come up. The user Benjakemp2010 asks one of the hardest questions that have to do with the upgrade of Red Dead Redemption to PS5. Apparently, the AI Grok helped clarify by confirming that “Yes, the owners of the PS4 version of Red Dead Redemption will get the PS5 upgrade for free starting December 2 as per Rockstar Games. It includes the enhancements of 60 FPS and 4K. It will be automatic if digital; for physical, insert the disc.” This indeed is a very great and generous offer.
The other hottest topic is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Celebrating the arrival of PlayStation with a game that was first associated with PC and then with Xbox. Pretty boring month.” So it is pretty evident that not all of them are feeling the numbers. Brig even responded to somebody else’s comment saying “??? We barely got any good games this year, lmao,” which is a completely different discussion that has taken place.
The gaming community has also been very active doing the usual thing: asking for things that are not on the list. Leleco is requesting “Simpsons hit and run????” which, honestly, is the same feeling many have. berryajs__12 is hoping for “Soul Calibur 3???”. And MonsieurOblivion is looking beyond new releases, stating “I’m overjoyed to witness the Plus Premium Classics selection for December. I’m hoping for Silent Hill or Parasite Eve to be our Christmas delight.” That’s an entirely different layer of potential goodness.
Then there is that affair of console war that always comes up. User JKellemen99_YT entered into a quarrel about how “Xbox no longer has exclusives” and that “playstation will technically have more games overall next year.” It’s that classic back-and-forth.
