Fortnite servers are now working great and the item shop has a wonderful selection of skins and accessories. Popular streamer CouRageJD was the first to inform the public about the event, calling it on Twitter ‘the MOST STACKED SHOP EVER,’ even encouraging players to apply creator code ‘COURAGE’ when buying the Battle Pass, Lisa skin, or Jinx + Vi Arcane bundle. He even promised to follow back anyone who would tweet him proof of their purchase. The community’s reaction has been crazy, with players quickly showing off their new outfits and replying with even more bizarre comments.
What exactly makes this shop so loaded? The Arcane skins definitely being one of the reasons for such hype around it. Jinx and Vi, the characters from the Netflix series, are now in Fortnite and they look gorgeous. The bundle consists of all the features that have the Arcane fans absolutely crazy, it contains both characters, their back blings, and a few others. The skin of Lisa is there too and it is being highly talked about as it seems to be the next anime-inspired character that has the players all riled up. Players are indeed getting addicted to a lot of new content coming at once, as it is combined with the new Battle Pass for the season.
CouRage’s tweet replies are like a loud cocktail of enthusiasm, purchase proofs, and outright gibberish. The user Silentman1110 was one of the first to respond who showed that he purchased the Battle Pass and Music Pass and also using the code bought 25 levels. AllSmite also when telling that they spent a staggering $100 on V-bucks just for the Jinx skin tweeted a picture of their purchase. That is some real commitment right there. Kurgur was so excited and tweeted, ‘I FINALLY GOT HER!!’ with a pic of Jinx skin making it obvious that the players have been waiting for this crossover.
But then… the opposite side of Twitter. A complete communication among users RyanTrainorUGA and yungsto24 only becomes a bizarre dispute with accusations of being ‘lame’ and having ‘no bitches’ thrown back and forth. It is like, what does that have to do with Fortnite? Some people just can’t refrain from it. Another user, Killerklown354, joined the argument saying that CouRage is ‘only doing it for the money,’ which, I mean, yes? That is how creator codes work? It’s not exactly a secret. The whole debate is messy, but it is also kind of fun to observe from the sidelines.
Others, however, just plain and simply enjoy the new cosmetics. GreatStoryCorey called the Arcane Jinx bundle ‘fire’ while peachybrittney simply shouted ‘AHHHH I NEED JINX!’ which really shows how everyone feels. Manix on the other hand bought the Dustin Henderson skin from Stranger Things using the code Courage and asked if that was enough for a follow back. It is really nice to see players supporting the creators even when they are not buying exactly the same items. This is what the support-a-creator program is all about, isn’t it?
The whole situation shows how much these shop updates can impact the Fortnite community. A new season or major collabs like Arcane hitting the item shop is certainly an event. Players get thrilled, they spend their V-bucks, and flaunt their new looks. Creators like CouRageJD benefit from the usage of the code, and everyone wins. Well, almost everyone. The occasional trolls in the comments are just part of the Twitter deal, I assume.
Moreover, it is a reminder of the high impact such influencer endorsements can have. CouRage’s follow for using his code is a wonderful thing. For a lot of his fans, getting a follow from a big streamer is a huge thing. It offers a direct incentive apart from just financially supporting him. One can see in the comments how many people are asking ‘Do I get a follow?’ or saying ‘send the follow’ with their proofs. It turns a simple transaction into a bit of a game, and it certainly works.
In the big picture, this is simply another day in the life of Fortnite. The game keeps on evolving with the constant introduction of new skins, new passes, and new partnerships. The Arcane collaboration in particular is a big one, bridging the vast popularity of the show with the Fortnite player base. The release of the Jinx and Vi bundle seems like a hit. The shop indeed is loaded with next-level items, just as CouRage said. If you have some V-bucks that you are planning to spend, now is the moment. Just don’t forget to use a creator code if you wish to support your favorite creator on PlayStation or Xbox.
