Call of Duty has posted a tweet that has stirred up a lot of discussions among gamers, and honestly? It is so human. The official Call of Duty account uploaded a picture that illustrated two completely different kinds of players: the one who gives creative names to their loadouts and the one who goes through all the nine slots with just ‘Custom Loadout 1’ as the label. The responses are sheer confusion and players are really mixed up over this, but at the same time, it is a chance for them to air out all their complaints about the current CoD games.
Since the very beginning, players were choosing sides in the naming debate of the loadout. There are those who support the ‘Creative Names’ team absolutely like Pixel Throne who commented ‘Definitely the one with named loadouts. ‘Stealth Run’ and ‘Chaos Mode’ are different from scrolling through Custom Loadout 1-9.’ And do you know what? They are not incorrect. Just the mere fact of giving your loadout a name, for instance, ‘Silent Assassin’ or ‘Rush B’ feels more intentional, as if you are choosing your playstyle by your strategy. On the other hand, there is jeezybadazz who candidly confessed ‘I’m definitely a namer.’ No embarrassment in their behavior.
However, the ‘Custom Loadout 1’ team is on the other side. These players are merely, unrefined chaos. Bagel tweeted ‘Custom loadout for the win 🤣’ and the vibe is very much expressed. They do not need any extravagant names as every loadout is known to them by muscle memory only. Dex Badgett declared ‘Custom Loadout soldier right here 😤😂’ and seriously? That’s the mood. There are times when players just want to hop into a match and shoot, not to come up with poems for their weapon setups.
It is at this point that the issue becomes complicated, and the negative aspects start surfacing. A lot of players have mentioned that there are technical problems that make loadout naming useless. seanpy1982 was very blunt when he said: ‘whats the point they disappear once you prestige?’ Ouch. Like a shot that goes right to the heart. Barukkumun outlined, ‘Since they reset with every prestige I have them just named as they are. Once prestige master I set names.’ This method is actually pretty smart but at the same time it portrays the prestige system as being counter to loadout customization.
Following this was a constant stream of bug reports. Oh God, the bug reports. yeonreal_ was quite blunt: ‘custom because it’s so buggy and just resets anyway’. JeremyVela25 was simply begging ‘Fix the loadouts already! For god sakes!’ At the same time shurrykain was more specific: ‘Please fix builds deleting, it’s maddening’. Not so long ago look of weapons was the only reason for such problems. But now there are serious technical issues that make loadout management a nightmare for some players.
The complaints kept pouring in while players were still ranting. KC_4191 went on and on about the game’s state: ‘The whole game needs fixing. End Game is a huge mess. Attachments are bugged. Camos are bugged. Sound stops. Performance issues. Stuttering. Frame drops.’ It is as if once the players opened the floodgates by talking about loadouts all the issues with modern Call of Duty games came out. ADDICTIVE1983 had a very specific case: ‘Fix the field upgrade levels!! I can’t overclock active camo because levels are stuck ‘0’! I have over 500 kills in active camo…’ That sounds like a real horror story.
Still, many of the different ways people came up with to name their loadouts were quite witty. TechaGek shared their technique: ‘Weapon Name, (Type) (Class) is my format. e.g. ‘DRAVEC – SMG CQB’ or ‘PCEKPR – AR LR’ (Long Range).’ That’s some top-notch organizing right there. Then there is horriblemercy who is more in tune with the creative side: ‘I name mine after songs I listen to while I play throughout the year.’ That is a nice idea- just think about it, having loadouts named after your favorite tracks, that is actually quite cool.
But wait, what was I saying? Oh yes- the ultimate mess of it all. There were some players who were just at their wits’ end with the entire system. the_blueprint admitted ‘i literally use the base 5 with the same weapon classes as the defaults’ which could either be a stroke of genius or a madman’s strategy, I can’t decide. And MishzZ101 said ‘Only real ones only have 1 custom class which they use every game but tweak it depending on the mode’ on PlayStation and Xbox.
