The @CyberpunkGame Twitter account made the latest announcement, and it seriously blew the imaginations of gamers for a moment. They shared a photo with the caption “Bathed in blue 💙” and mentioned the cosplayer @GotyeMasha. And, like, wow! The image is so mind-blowingly detailed and moody that a large number of users thought it was a screenshot from the game in the comment section. The vibe is so reminiscent of Misty, don’t you think? The heavenly rippers from V’s flat, so to say. Lighting, placement, and overall style are just stunning.
Initially, there was quite a funny and at the same time spectacular reaction. One user, @xllrenenenllx, was very taken aback and wrote: “oh my god that’s a cosplay???” – to which we can reply assuredly: “same here”. The caliber is indeed “next Level”. Another user, @CherryyGarden, shared that they “sincerely believed that was misty from the game omg 😭 and then I was like woah that’s a very impressive picture.” There was a whole thread full of such and similar comments, not just one or two people. @synaktis added, “Had to look twice – she really looks like misty. It’s so impressive”. It is one of those outfits where it is really hard to tell whether it is a real person or a digital character, which is basically the highest compliment in the cosplay scene.
Then the whole… another thing came. User @itsjaylin took the first potshot in the form of internet comedy by posting, “I first read this as ‘bathed in lube’ and I was like hold up”. This is actually a very logical misunderstanding given the, well, everything about Night City. It got a lot of laughing emoji responses because, of course, it did. The internet never changes, and we loved it for that.
Masha Gotye, the cosplayer, was, of course, very thrilled to be acknowledged by the Cyberpunk Game account. She wrote, “Omg thanks so so much 😭🫶🏻”, which is just adorable. It is amazing to see game developers and official accounts acknowledging the wonderful fan creations that emerge around their games. It does create a sense of community, don’t you think? Other users also quickly praised her directly, with @VenkeQ telling her “You look awesome!” and @FR_Tinkerbell declaring “She’s perfect! 🤩”.
An unexpected but nonetheless interesting deeper discussion really did come up. User @4rkadian used the cosplay as an opportunity to delve into the subject of AI art, tagging an AI account and saying it is “Insane how even an ai like @grok cannot duplicate the emotion that the @CyberpunkGame artists and art can do to tell a story through an image.” It led to a brief exchange about the human element in art, which is a pretty heavy topic to find in the replies to a cosplay photo, but hey, that’s Cyberpunk for you. It gets people to think.
Along with the praise went the usual gamer demand. User @EmpolodX stated, “Great cosplay but you could make a nice addition to the game by just adding a KB&M update for PlayStation.” It’s always worth a shot, I suppose. You can’t blame a choom for trying. @DasNello also threw a little mind-bender asking, “Can’t believe this game came out 20 years back. Still looking awesome.” Now, Cyberpunk 2077 is not even nearly a 20-year-old game, but probably they were referring to the tabletop game’s roots? Or could it have just been a time-warp moment? Happens sometimes.
The cosplay is of Misty’s original outfit from the game, which was pointed out by @MR_OLLS, saying “NICE. but new look is better!” referring to her new appearance in the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion. Masha responded with “I love her original outfit XD”, which is a nice little homage to the different character designs through the game’s lifetime. It’s wonderful to see the love for the classic look.
It is amazing how a single picture can trigger a lot of different talks, starting from pure astonishment and admiration going through jokes, tech requests, and even philosophical discussions on art. It really shows the lively and assorted community that CD Projekt Red‘s cyberpunk world has been able to attract. Cosplayers like Masha Gotye are doing a major part in it, sometimes making you do a double-take. This commitment level is what keeps the gaming spirit alive long after the credits roll. One can’t just play the game; you need to spend some time living in that world and sharing it with others. And honestly, that’s quite nice.
