Ubisoft has revealed great news for the fans of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The Title Update 1.1.6 is going to be available tomorrow at 2 pm UTC, and it will introduce some really unexpected content. The most exciting news is about a unique collaboration with Attack on Titan. Yes, you heard it right. The historical Edo period of Japan along with the enormous man-eating Titans, are all set to come together in what could be the strangest crossover of the year.

So what’s life like for now?. The new update includes the Attack on Titan collaboration event, a new quest called “The Puzzlement,” and some small changes in the Corrupted Castle activity. Ubisoft has posted the complete list of changes on their site, though they are keeping the most interesting details for now. What will an Assassin’s Creed game with the AoT collab look like? Is it riding ODM gear? Battling Titans? The craziness of the scenarios is pretty shocking if you consider them.

The responses from the community have been… let’s just say mixed, if we are polite about it. Some players are definitely very happy. User @playrevived said “AoT collab goes hard,” which is a great way to express the mood. @TheHiddenOne87 just sent fire emojis like “can’t wait 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥,” which is the universal gamer language for “this is great.” Also, @id0ntm1ss has been counting every hour till the update saying “I’m excited, I can’t wait till tomorrow!” with a happy gif.

On the flip side, there are the skeptics who question the choice. @Xstreambob asked the most common question, “Why Attack on Titan? Is this the new section of Assassin’s creed?” They even mentioned Destiny’s crossover with Star Wars as a similar mistake, saying “that game is dead.” That hurts. And @anthaasjp was just calling the game total crap and wondering if anyone still plays it. That’s harsh.

Nevertheless, the drama was not finished for @guccione_ape who made a sarcastic comment saying “3 ppl who still play this game are going crazy over this update” along with a laughing gif. But @kiryukazuma2788 urged people to ‘just move on’ as ‘this game isn’t worth it anymore.’ This was the start of a debate with people arguing that others should not speak for everyone and should just stay quiet. This is nothing more than the usual heated Twitter gaming discussions.

Meanwhile, some players had more normal concerns. @DStitchman expressed his thoughts about the short-lived missions in single-player games: “Make the AoT missions a permanent feature. Introducing timed missions in a single-player game is nasty. Nobody likes fomo (fear of missing out).” They are correct – it is always disappointing when there is limited content in a game that you have already paid full price for.

Technical issues were also discussed. @sentinelzer01 was wondering if the update would fix the bug of character skill resetting, @Damien99980163 was wondering about the freezing problem on non-SSD drives, and @Joey__Kerr was talking about the candles that cannot be extinguished or broken. Meanwhile, @Maxton_Evandiel was asking about a possible Mirage update with motion blur options instead. The priorities are very different here.

One interesting point – @ZienriCh35P wanted to know if the update would be available on Nintendo Switch 2 and @id0ntm1ss guessed so “since the switch 2 version is supposed to be out on December 2nd!” Hold on, is that confirmation? Did we just get the Switch 2 release date from an offhand Twitter reply? The gaming rumor mill never sleeps.

Also, players have questions regarding the changes in Corrupted Castle. @Chuckforevver was asking “What Corrupted Castles changes better rewards?” because that is the question on the minds of players, for sure. Is there going to be better loot? More difficult fights? The original tweet did not directly answer that so, unfortunately, we will have to wait and see.

It is very clear that Assassin’s Creed Shadows is continuing to provoke strong reactions even after months since its launch. The Attack on Titan crossover has become either a stroke of genius that keeps the interest up or a desperate move to keep the game alive, depending on who you ask.

What no one can argue against is that Ubisoft provides the game with frequent updates. Just a new story quest would be a lot of content anymore. But in addition to this, there is a significant collaboration with anime and the improvement of endgame activities to show that they are not just doing the bare minimum. Whether they manage to win back the players that have left or they just make current players’ activities more fun remains to be seen, however.
